1980 Chevrolet Corvette 4-Speed Manual

The odometer reads under 54,000 kms, which the owner believes could be original but in the absence of full documentation since new, we describe it as TMU – true mileage unknown. Under current ownership, it has been regularly maintained with extensive repairs and upgrades, and approximately 3,000 km driven. The exterior is finished in White, the original colour, with touch-ups and paint correction done and two coats of ceramic protection applied following a polish. Chrome Doug’s headers and matching chrome side pipes have been added. The body features removable GM-licensed reproduction glass T-tops (replacements under current ownership for the factory units), pop-up headlights, a front air dam, and body-coloured bumper covers.

The factory polished aluminum wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires – the rears were replaced in 2021, while the seller advises that the matching fronts were procured by the previous owner. The car was equipped from the factory with the optional Gymkhana suspension, offering firmer handling. Power steering, power brakes, power windows, power antenna, and Teletilt steering are all equipped. The seller notes the A/C system is not currently connected, and that the original compressor is included in the sale. Seller notes that the front rotors, pads and calipers were replaced in 2020, about 3,000 km ago. Then, in 2021, the current owner had brake lines, hoses and emergency brake cable replaced.

Inside, the cabin is upholstered in red leather on the bucket seats, with colour-matched door panels and console surfaces. The interior presents well, with wear that is consistent with the vehicle’s age. Instrumentation includes a 140 km/h speedometer (consistent with US DOT regulation at the time for maximum 85 MPH speedometers), a tachometer with a 5,500 RPM redline, and auxiliary gauges in the centre stack for oil pressure, battery voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature – complemented by a functional analog clock. Audio has been upgraded with an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit and speakers, all by Pioneer; the original radio is included in the sale. The 4-speed manual transmission is shifted aft of the HVAC controls and ashtray, fore of the power window controls and arm rest with incorporated hand brake. The air conditioning system is currently inoperative, the compressor having been removed, though it is included with sale.

Under the hood sits the original numbers-matching L48 350 cubic inch V8, factory-rated at 190 horsepower and paired with the factory 4-speed manual gearbox. The engine bay is tidy, recently detailed and certain components repainted, and remains in mostly stock configuration- with the exception of the addition of chrome ceramic-coated Doug’s Headers that feed the side pipes. The original exhaust manifolds are included. Power is sent to the rear wheels, and braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes. Steering is power-assisted, and the car is equipped with factory power windows and colour-coded sport style mirrors.

The seller notes that the car has not been driven in winter and has been garage-stored. Accompanying the car is an extensive maintenance file, including a binder of service records and repair manuals, along with the original GM Black Book, build, parts and service manuals, two car covers, and various replaced original parts. The most recent maintenance includes replacement of rear tires, fluid changes, and a thorough detailing inside, out and in the engine compartment.
