Overview
Here is a never-tracked 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2LZ 7-Speed Manual Supercharged available from the second owner. This was the highest performer and top of the Corvette line in 2015, the second year of the seventh generation Corvette (C7) and the first Z06 in C7 form. As those who follow Corvette closely know, the C7 appears to be the last front-engined Corvette and the last with the choice of a manual transmission – two mainstays of the line until the current car. The C8, which began in the model year 2020, offers a mid-engined layout, and no C8 is offered with three pedals. So, the C7 will likely remain a favourite for the Corvette traditionalist, though at 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, this Z06 is no reminder of a chrome bumper C3, much less a first-year 1953 Corvette with six-cylinder engine.
Finished in its original black paint, this colour reinforces the aggressive look of any C7 Z06. Please note that the wheel/tire set photographed on the car would be an extra if the buyer would like. The 19 x 10 and 20 x 12 spin-cast aluminum stock Z06-stamped wheels, nickel-plated and factory-painted black, lined in replacement Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4 ZP tires, will come with the car spec’d at P285/30ZR19 fore and P335/25R20 99Y in the rear, they have been driven approximately 4,000 km and are photographed starting at image 25. The car is equipped with a stock removable transparent targa top in carbon fibre – dual purposes here are that it is very light for ease of removal (see our video) and lowering the car’s centre of gravity. Further carbon fibre elements are in place on the car, adding to performance while keeping weight increase to a minimum: side skirts, front splitter and larger-than-base rear spoiler. A matte-style double stripe spans the length of the car, black matte on black paint – sporty but subtle as it extends over the carbon fibre hood’s larger-than-base vent. The familiar Corvette logo of crossed checkered and Chevrolet logo flags are prominently displayed on the nose and rear deck of the car, while Z06 badges adorn the fenders – we think of them a warning to adjacent cars at a red light. All light lenses are clear – adding to the monochrome look – and free of cracking, the coloured bulbs provide the contrast when lights illuminate. Beyond the carbon fibre appointments and removable roof panel, the Z06 differentiates itself from other 2015 Corvettes with these further features: rear fascia openings larger-than-base, unique air blades over the rear fenders and larger front fender vents. The front fascia enables air flow into the supercharger’s intercooler heat exchanger, intakes for brake cooling and grille outlets below act as air diffusers. An aftermarket addition on the exterior is the set of louvers over the three rear windows, by Glasskinz – adding to the menacing profile of this Z06, though easily removed should the new owner prefer.
Interior Nappa leather is perforated and of a shade named Adrenaline Red, GT seats are fitted, accented by the trademark Corvette crossed flags. All 2015 Corvettes came very well equipped – such items as climate control, power group, cruise control, remote hatch release and automatic headlights almost do not require mention – this example comes with the 2LZ Preferred Equipment Group. Materials used for tactile controls are soft-touch and the grab bar on the passenger side of the cabin is steel-reinforced. Beyond the Nappa leather, interior materials used are made up of aluminum, carbon fibre and microsuede; the three-spoke steering wheel is leather-wrapped with a flat base of carbon fibre. Contrasting the Adrenaline Red seats and other appointments is an interior the remainder of which is finished in charcoal and black to add to the sporty feel of this Z06 as does the “CORVETTE” plating in the door jambs – carpets are charcoal, protected by matching Z06-embroidered floor mats. Sound is by Bose, with all of the modern amenities including Bluetooth. (Note that the cover for the driver’s side sun visor mirror is missing.) Heads-up display is fitted, enabling speed monitoring without a glance down at the full instrumentation, which is centred by a 7500 RPM tachometer with 6600 RPM redline. It is flanked by 360 km/h speedometer (!) and gauges for oil pressure and on the left; coolant temperature, fuel level and supercharger boost pressure to the right. Display is LED and adjustable to various settings at the driver’s preference, there is also a performance data recorder. The centre console is fronted a by a Z06 badge setting out the 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque that the supercharged LT4 engine boasts, just fore of the 7-speed manual shifter.
As all generations of Corvette have been equipped since the C2 in 1963, this car is powered by a V8 engine. In the engine compartment is found a 6.2 litre supercharged LT4 – output is a prodigious 650 horsepower (6400 RPM) and 650 lb.-ft. of torque (3600 RPM), supported by the acceleration videos – our camera person had some trouble keeping the camera level, despite the owner driver not opening the throttle fully. Helping to keep the drive in control is an electronic limited-slip differential, GM’s patented Stabilitrak electronic stability control, as well as Magnetic Selective Ride Control. Supporting the supercharged LT4 is a 7-speed manual transmission with active rev matching, sending power to the rear wheels only. Composite body panels reinforce the carbon fibre previously mentioned, there is a hydroformed aluminum frame in place with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components – all in the name of saving weight. Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes all around, with red Corvette-branded calipers and vented steel rotors. The engine compartment remains quite tidy as does the underside. Maintenance in 2023 includes oil, lube and filter change, plus a brake caliper service; also in the past year, the owner has carried out an alignment and a change of clutch fluid. Owner believes the car needs no repairs at this time and is ready to go for the next owner; for Ontario buyers: the owner believes the car will pass under the Ontario Safety Standards Certificate program in its current condition. Other work is noted on the Carfax; consistent with the low mileage, the car has not been subject to major repair to date. The clean Carfax is linked in “CCC Vital Info” section.
This 49K km 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2LZ 7-Speed Manual Supercharged comes with several inclusions – two sets of “keys”, original books including Owner’s Manual, custom Weather Tech car cover, Glasskinz louvers – and is available from its owner just outside of Belleville, Ontario. The owner will require that the car be purchased from his dealer, where he will trade it on a 2023 Ford F150 Tremor, which will help with delivery in the event the new owner is west of the Belleville area.
