Overview

On auction is a modified 2015 Subaru WRX 6-speed manual. Its appearance has been tastefully modified; the main focus of the modifications is performance beyond that provided by the factory from the turbocharged Boxer four with direct injection. It is owned by an enthusiast who stores the car at the Hagerty Garage and Social in Burlington, Ontario when not in use.
Owned by the seller three years, it has been driven through one winter only. Even so, the auction includes a complete winter set of four winter tires mounted on four 17” rims separate from the stock set pictured on the car and used for one season only. There is a clean Carfax in the photo gallery, it shows extensive and regular maintenance – most at a Subaru dealer.

The car is finished in Crystal Black Silica paint (Subaru D4S), which appears as a brilliant black when in shade or indoors but pops by picking up and reflecting light when in the sun. The exterior shows black complements throughout, giving it a monochromatic theme. Upgrades on the exterior include black emblems, a Perrin rear spoiler, front carbon fibre lip spoiler, side lip kit and carbon fibre black overlays on the headlamps/front indicators. These add to the aggressive look supplied from the factory by the side skirts, rear splitter and large hood scoop. The factory five triple spoke 17” wheels are in place, with a set of Fuzion UHP Sport all-season performance tires, measuring the factory size of 235/45, W-speed rated and date coded 2018. The factory Subaru-branded glass has been tinted by ProTint Computerized Tinting, it is a fine accent, as is the below-bumper centre brake light.

The cleanliness of the modern interior reflects the seller’s report of one winter. The multi-function flat-bottomed steering wheel offers controls for audio, phone and cruise control. The three-spoke wheel’s badge has also been upgraded and fronts a comprehensive gauge package including analog 280 km/h speedometer, 8000 RPM tachometer, temperature and fuel gauges. Digital display is adjustable and defaults to an odometer reading, in this case under 108,000 km and has two trip odometers. There is also a multi-function LED display in the centre of the dash, which doubles as the monitor for the back-up camera. Power one-touch windows, locks and heated mirrors are on offer as is air conditioning. Carbon black cloth form-fitting front sport seats are heated, manually adjusted and split by a console and carbon-fibre-appointed hand brake, the split-folding rear bench has a folding armrest and can accommodate three. The trunk is equally clean and houses the unused original spare tire as well as rubber Subaru-branded winter mats.

As pretty and well-kept as the interior and exterior are, this car is about performance. Under the hood is found a very clean engine bay which has been treated to many performance updates by the admittedly obsessed seller. From the factory it came with a Boxer engine, as Subaru has become well-known for – Boxer means flat-four, 2.0 litres in this case, supplemented by turbocharging. The direct injection and variable valve timing helped combine for a factory horsepower rating of 268, at 5600 RPM. Torque rating came similarly strong: 258 lb.-ft at 2000 RPM. The six-speed manual transmission drives all four wheels, also in typical Subaru fashion. Stability and traction control also help keep the power adhered to the pavement, four-wheel discs with ABS add to the safety. Seller has upgraded the brakes to a set by Brembo, a well-known brand among enthusiasts. This car has been modified for performance with a Protune by Touge Tuning and a Grimmspeed boost controller. The seller’s shop estimates that it would be running approximately 340 horsepower in its current form.

The red GrimmSpeed pulley cover provides a little eye candy under the hood and is a bellwether of what is in store for the driver. Underside photos show that this car’s undercarriage has been equally well-treated.

This modified 2015 Subaru WRX 6-speed manual is available from its owner with owner’s manual, winter wheels/tires, most original removed parts and four lowering springs in Burlington, Ontario.
