No Reserve 1968 Rover TC 2000, A Thrifty Thursday Offering
This 1968 Rover 2000 TC is a saloon finished in an off-white exterior and offered at NO RESERVE. Factory brightwork includes chrome bumpers, stainless window surrounds, and the original “ROVER” block lettering across the rear deck. TC badging is in place on the front of the hood, and characteristic P6-series cues such as quad headlamps, vertical tail lamps, front turn indicators, bright drip rails, and a side-hinged trunk lid complete the look. Paint loss is visible on the roof, as are blemishes on other panels. All glass as well as exterior lighting assemblies are intact. The original-spec 14-inch steel wheels are fitted with untested tires and a full-size spare tire is included with the sale, housed in the trunk with a fitted cover.
Inside, the cabin is upholstered in red leather showing wear consistent with age and long-time heated indoor storage, featuring wood-veneer trim along the upper door cards and across the dashboard. A two-spoke wood rim steering wheel fronts instrumentation that includes a horizontal ribbon speedometer with max. reading of 120 MPH with a km/h scale in smaller font, a 7,000 RPM tachometer with a 6,000 RPM redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel and engine temperature. Additional appointments are comprised of manual side windows, chrome pull knobs, black rocker switches, and an AM/FM radio. Interior photographs show a largely complete cockpit that will require servicing after storage.
Power comes from a 2-litre single overhead cam inline-four equipped with twin SU carburetors and factory-rated at 124 HP at 5,500 RPM and 127 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 RPM. A four-speed manual gearbox with full synchromesh is complemented by rear wheel drive and a 3.54:1 final-drive ratio. The chassis employs De Dion rear suspension and was among the first production sedans to feature hydraulic servo-assisted disc brakes at all four corners. The five-digit odometer shows under 13,000 miles, though the total milage is unknown (TMU). The sale includes a binder of photographs and handwritten service records documenting decades of ownership by the seller. Additional notes cover routine servicing, fuel consumption, and seasonal driving, illustrating a long history of careful stewardship.
This 1968 Rover 2000 TC is offered with its matching spare, extensive documentation, and original drivetrain by the owner in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Important Notes: The owner has engaged the seller to oversee the sale of various items including a car collection during a downsizing. While this sedan was photographed by CCC, there was no battery in place. So, it was neither started nor driven while we were on site. This car is offered as is, where is with no representations made by the owner beyond the photographs. The vehicle is to be collected from the photographed heated storage facility. It being a private home, no repairs can be carried out at the seller’s site.
