Overview
This is a 1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe 5-Speed Manual which has been modified by the owning European specialist shop. It has undergone significant refurbishment, both cosmetic and mechanical, with many RS tributes – notably the ducktail spoiler. The car is a Japanese market example and came to Canada in 2007, seven years before the owning European specialist shop acquired it and went to work on the mechanical upgrades. A matching numbers car, it possesses its original 3.0 litre flat six, which has been rebuilt with approximately 3500 km added since – crankshaft, connecting rods, and bearings were installed new at the time, while original heads were rebuilt, JE Race pistons and Clewett Engineering crank/cam sensors installed, cylinder walls coated in Nikasil and the ignition system was converted to a coil set up. The bumper covers are also RSR-style items to yield a more aggressive look with the original staggered 15” Fuchs in place. This modified 911SC is being represented by the seller, an authorized agent of the owing European specialist shop – shop is not a licensed dealer, this will be a private sale. Given the value of this offering, we remind you that we do offer buyer financing – see the menu item in the first menu on any page or contact us at [email protected] . (Don’t wait until the last minute, it is fine for Registered Bidders to contact us before they bid.)
This car was manufactured without a sunroof and in white. The black paint possesses a high gloss and was commissioned by a previous owner, though the seller mentions some stone chips, the finish is accented by green Carrera side stripes. Paint meter reading photos appear in our gallery, supporting a “to the bare metal” starting point. The RSR-style front and rear bumpers as well as the ducktail spoilers support the mechanical modifications. The original front bumper cover is included. Side mirror caps are finished in body colour, rear bumperettes are in place below a period car-width reflector showing “PORSCHE” and fender indicators are in place signifying this as a “RoW” car (rest of world, I.E. non-North American market).
Period Fuchs 15” wheels with centre caps emblazoned in a gold Porsche logo are installed on the car. They are lined in a set of Falken ZIEX tires installed eight years back. The Falkens are 215/60 all around. The car rides on a set of Bilstein shocks and a Euro spec set of H4 headlights is fitted.
In the cabin, there are front bucket Recaro seats trimmed in black leather while the original rear seats remain. The dashboard is free of cracks, please see this demonstrated in one of our videos. Pedal caps are aluminum. In a nod to the RS look, door cards are stripped of amenities short of power windows and pulls are in the form of straps. The car has automatic climate control, power windows and a five-speed manual transmission with shift boot in pleated rubber. Carrera-branded mats are in place under foot and the head unit is an AOVEISE AV252B. The air conditioner has been removed, all components are included with the car should the new owner wish to install.
Stock VDO instrumentation is ready for the track, with a centrally mounted, tilted 8000 RPM tachometer with 7200 RPM redline and speedometer maxing out at 250 km/h. Other VDO instrumentation behind the MOMO three-spoke steering wheel with yellow stripe at 12:00 and Porsche crested hub are gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature as well as an analog clock. The six-digit odometer at the base of the speedometer shows under 90,000 km, there is also a trip odometer.
The original 3.0 litre six-cylinder engine in boxer formation was rebuilt by the owning shop with details in the first paragraph. It was tuned further in 2024. The five-speed Type 915 manual sends the power to the rear wheels and is operated with a racing spec clutch. While the catalytic converter is not currently fitted, it is included with the car. Seller advises that 240 horsepower was measured on a Dyno (factory rating was 180 HP), and this modified 911 is lighter than a 2557 lb. stock unit. There is a binder of service records from current ownership which will stay with the car upon sale.
This seller has furnished very detailed videos of the underside and exterior, please review those to complement the photos. This 1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe 5-Speed Manual, Modified is available with one key from the ten-year owner, a European specialist shop, outside Montreal, Qc.
