**SOLD by AUCTION** No Reserve 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300TE

Overview

1992 Mercedes-Benz 300TE

Here is 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300TE offered with the excitement of no reserve. It is a U.S. market car, having been imported into Canada in 1995. The instrumentation has been changed to metric. At the time the new odometer was installed, the previous odometer read 26,911 miles – as on the decal in the driver’s door jamb. It is finished in Black over Black MB-Tex upholstery and is powered by a 3.0 litre M103 inline-six engine. The Touring is further equipped with AMG wheels, roof rails, a third row bench for two occupants, original Becker AM/FM/cassette head unit, power cabin accessories and cruise control. The Carfax shows one claim, in 2007.
Finished in Black (Mercedes-Benz colour code 040), the car is presented with black bumper trim and grey lower cladding. The bumper trim up front has peeled – look closely at our gallery, it needs a close look given the car is black, as is the bumper material underneath. There is a power sunroof, though it tilts only with the sliding function inoperable; fog lights; headlight wipers and washers; roof rails; and a single wiper for both front and rear windscreens. There are various dings and scrapes on the body, as set out in our gallery – where you will also see corrosion on the driver’s side fender aft of the headlight assembly.
The 17” AMG wheels are a square set-up with two pairs of tires. Up front is a set of Hankook Ventus V12 evo tires, Y-rated and date coded 2011 while the rear wheels are outfitted in Continental H-rated ContiPro Contacts dated 2013; all tires measure 225/45. This E-class wagon was factory equipped with a self-leveling suspension system in the rear using hydropneumatics. There are four-wheel discs at all four corners, with ABS control. A further safety feature is the airbag system found for each of the driver and front passenger.
Seating for all eight occupants is trimmed in Black MB-Tex. Dash, carpets and door cards are in a matching black with wood veneer accenting on the dash and doors with it being the primary covering over the centre console. The factory Becker head unit remains in place and there is an air conditioner with analog climate control while front seat occupants are also treated to power seats. The second row bench can be folded down and the third row bench for two can be as well to provide a flat floor. Spare is covered and it the driver’s side of the hatch; the first aid kit is found on the opposite covered stowage area. The driver’s side rear door window is not working as designed and while there is some storage in the centre console, the car is not equipped with a conventional glove compartment, which we speculate is because the early passenger airbag left no space to accommodate one.
Paragraph 5.
The 3.0 litre inline six was factory-rated at 177 horsepower, complemented by 188 lb.-ft. of torque. There is a four-speed automatic gearbox equipped, getting the power to the rear wheels only. Owner relays that a new O-ring needs to be installed to rid the car of a propensity to leak transmission fluid after periods of non-use.
This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300TE is available at No Reserve with two keys and owner’s manual from the 10-year owner in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
