No Reserve 2005 Howa – Lotus Super 7/Caterham Roadster Replica Kit Car 5- Speed Manual
Here is a 2005 Howa Roadster, a Lotus Super 7-style replica finished in yellow with a black interior. This open-top kit car was completed by the seller on a custom Howa Motors tube-frame chassis, incorporating numerous hand-built aluminum and fabricated components. Power is provided by a Toyota 1.6-litre inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission, sourced from a 1987 Corolla GT-S. Body and rear fenders are fibreglass, front fenders are plastic while the engine cover and trunk lid are unfinished aluminum. See the spec sheet prepared by the owner in the gallery. The exterior is finished in a metallic silver and yellow shade and features classic Lotus-inspired open-wheel styling with cycle-style front fenders and exposed suspension components. Custom aluminum body panels have been hand-fabricated and fitted to the tubular frame. Details include a low-cut windshield with dual mirrors, dual roll hoops behind each seat, a hood scoop, side exhaust, and polished aluminum rear fenders. Photos show consistent panel alignment and finish quality throughout the build. Lighting includes classic round front lamps and integrated rear signal and brake lamps.
This Roadster rides on a set of 8-spoke Minilite-style alloy wheels finished in grey, mounted with Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires, sized P205/60R14 88H up front and P195/60R14 85H in the rear. . Both carry an H speed rating, suitable for speeds up to 210 km/h (130 mph). The tires appear in good condition, with visible tread depth and clean sidewalls as shown in the gallery. Braking is handled by front disc and rear drum brakes. The suspension consists of independent front control arms and a solid rear axle with coil springs, adapted from period-correct Toyota running gear. The car is equipped with adjustable rear coilovers, and the builder confirms the car tracks straight and corners flat. The cockpit is trimmed in black vinyl, with two lightweight bucket seats equipped with RCI 5-point racing harnesses. A Momo three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column, while the dashboard houses essential gauges including a central tachometer, speedometer, fuel level, and coolant temperature. Switchgear for ignition, lights, and accessories are mounted on a brushed-metal centre panel.
Power is supplied by a 1.6-litre 4A-GE inline-four-cylinder engine from a 1987 Toyota Corolla GT-S, fitted in a front-mid layout. This naturally aspirated, dual overhead cam engine features electronic fuel injection and produces a factory-rated 112 horsepower and 97 lb-ft of torque. The engine compartment is cleanly laid out, with visible braided fuel lines, alloy intake, and a custom radiator setup.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Toyota-sourced five-speed manual transmission. The differential and rear axle are also sourced from a Corolla GT-S. The drivetrain has travelled fewer than 1,500 kilometres since the build was completed. The seller reports smooth clutch engagement and crisp gear changes, with no mechanical issues.
