1973 Cadillac Sedan deVille Hardtop SOLD for $17,000

This is a 1973 Cadillac Sedan deVille Hardtop, refinished in the original Mirage Taupe Metallic over a Dark Taupe cloth interior. The car is powered by a 472 cubic-inch V8 engine, mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. An extensive list of work completed in the previous 3 years is offered, including an entire repaint of the body, installation of a PerTronix electronic ignition, new tires and a number of mechanical upgrades highlighted throughout this listing. The odometer shows under 20,000 miles which is reported by the seller to be believed as true original miles, though we must note it as True Mileage Unknown in the absence of complete documentation since new. This 1973 Cadillac Sedan deVille is offered by the seller in Ancaster, ON with two sets of keys, a shop manual, a GM paint stick, a remanufactured carburetor, a new PCV valve, two ‘new old stock’ (N.O.S.) chrome license plate light surrounds, and a new power steering line.

The exterior was professionally repainted in its factory original Mirage Taupe Metallic Gold (Paint Code 64) in October 2022. Exterior features include a white vinyl roof, fender-mounted light monitors, rear fender skirts and a power antenna (currently inoperative though it can be raised and lowered manually). The chrome trim retains a bright, lustrous finish, complementing the exterior’s condition with minor damage to the passenger’s side rubber taillight surround as shown in the photo gallery.

Complemented by factory wheel covers, 15” steel wheels are lined in Auburn Premium Radial whitewall tires, sized 235/75R15. These tires were installed two years ago and show minimal wear given that the 3-year owner has driven the car under 2,000 miles. The spare tire is in the trunk, as are the jack and tire iron which look to be in unused condition. The “Jacking Instructions” decal shows as new. The braking system is by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The braking system has been recently serviced in the last 2000 miles, including the installation of rebuilt calipers, new wheel cylinders, flex hoses, a new master cylinder, as well as a rear drum cleaning and adjustment. The front shocks were replaced in 2022 and rear shocks in 2023.

The interior of this Cadillac features bench seats front and rear, finished in a Dark Taupe Medallion patterned cloth upholstery. Simulated woodgrain panels accent the dash and door cards; seats include armrests, both front and rear. The dash and door panels show little wear, supporting the owner’s mileage assessment. Separable shoulder harnesses appear unused, and the steering wheel is free of cracks common to the era. This deVille is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors and a power seat. The factory push button AM/FM radio remains in place. The interior clock is currently inoperative, while the air conditioner does not blow cold.

Instrumentation beyond the three-spoke steering wheel includes a sweeping 120 MPH speedometer and a fuel level gauge, accompanied by the Cadillac trademark ‘Sentinel Warning Light System’ which monitors and displays warning messages for engine temperature too high, charging system faults, low oil pressure, trunk ajar, seat belts not fastened, and doors ajar.

Under the hood, this Cadillac has a big-block, 472 cubic-inch V8 engine which came with factory ratings of 235hp and 355 ft.-lb. of torque. The engine runs smoothly as shown in the videos both at idle and under load. The engine bay is clean and appears well-maintained. Recent maintenance performed in the last 2000 miles includes the replacement of the radiator and hoses , heater hoses, a heater valve, fuel tank, fuel sending unit, air filter and accessory drive belts. A remanufactured carburetor is also included in the sale; it is photographed in the trunk.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. The seller notes that service to the drivetrain over the last 3 years includes a transmission service (transmission pan gasket & fluid change), rear axle fluid change, and a new exhaust system from the Y-pipe back.
