Overview
Here is a 1984 Porsche 928S which is a US market car having been imported to Canada in the first couple of years following the first retail delivery in Louisiana. It also had British Columbia and New Brunswick history when the seller bought it two years ago and drove it to his home in Ontario from N.B. Its powerplant is a 4.7 litre V8 engine which is mated to a four-speed automatic transaxle by Mercedes-Benz. In 2009, it was repainted in its original colour of slate blue metallic, which presents over blue leather upholstery. The original rear spoiler, power sunroof, power adjustable front seats, fog lights and pop-up headlights remain in place.
The original colour is slate blue metallic (schiefferblaumetallic, Porsche code 661) and the car has had a respray in this colour. The pop-up headlights are complemented by headlight washers while on the rear, there is a spoiler and rear wiper. Upgrades from original come in the form of a set of Porsche Cup II Replica wheels upgraded and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD Bluetooth head unit.
The Replica Cup IIs are wrapped in General G-MAX AS-03 tires. It is a staggered set, 225/45 in front and 245/40 in the rear, W-rated at all four corners. Beneath are four-wheel discs with Porsche-branded calipers.
The buckets in front and rear folding wraparound folding rear seats are trimmed in blue leather with matching carpets, dash and door cards. The covered dash shows cracks underneath while the hatch carpet is faded and the tops of the rear seats are cracked. The climate control features an air conditioner that blows cold, attributable to an air compressor installed July 2024. Cruise control is also equipped.
The 928S-accented four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 170 MPH speedometer with a 7600 RPM
tachometer to its right, the latter shows a 7000 RPM red line. The six-digit odometer incorporated into the speedometer shows under 136,000 miles, there is a trip odometer beneath it. To the left of the larger gauges are water temperature and fuel gauges, while to their right is that for oil pressure as well as a voltmeter.
The 4.7 litre V8 was factory rated with 234 horsepower and 263 lb.-ft. of torque. The four-speed
automatic transaxle mounted in the rear gets the power to the rear wheels. Fuel is fed to the V8 via a Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system.
The Carfax report notes a salvage title. The seller relays that the car was stolen in the ‘80s and
recovered needing mechanical repair. He also notes that the timing belt was installed in 2012 and that the car has never been winter driven – underside photos are available on our gallery. Having done regular maintenance and about 2,000 miles since he registered it in his name in 2022, he expects that the car will pass Ontario safety as it currently sits.
This 1984 Porsche 928S is available with original owner’s manual from the owner in Niagara-on-the- Lake, On.
