1986 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe 4-Speed Manual SOLD for $105,000
Here is a 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe 4-Speed Manual, finished in Yellow over a reupholstered black leather interior. This example is powered by a turbocharged 3.3-litre flat-six engine paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. A US Market car that came to Canada in 2003, the seller advises that he has owned the car approximately 20 years – with the odometer reading under 114,000 miles. Modifications include a rebuilt K27 turbocharger, upgraded Fabspeed intercooler and muffler, RarlyL8 headers, catless exhaust, and a top-end engine rebuild using ARP head studs. It is offered by the seller with one key, the factory owner’s and warranty manuals as well as additional parts including the original catalytic converter, downpipe, intercooler, muffler and exhaust manifold in Hamilton, ON. The exterior has been refinished in Yellow, replicating Porsche’s later released Speed Yellow with the front bumper having been repainted in 2023; . The exterior features a factory wide-body design with black stone guards fore of the rear fenders, integrated front fog lamps, and a tea tray-style rear spoiler with an integrated intercooler air intake. Additional details include body-colour mirror caps, black lower trim and bumper accents, front bumper bellows, a power-operated sunroof, and rear bumperettes. The passenger’s side door is currently operable, though out of perfect alignment; the seller and his mechanic suspect the cause as a bad torsion bar (since replaced) with a quote of $1,400 for correction on hand.
This 911 Turbo is equipped with staggered-width 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, finished in black with polished outer lips and Porsche branded center caps. The wheels are mounted with Pirelli PZERO Rosso tires, sized 205/55ZR16 at the front 245/45ZR16 at the rear, all with 2021 date codes. Braking is by four-wheel disc brakes and cross-drilled rotors, with Porsche-branded calipers visible through the wheel spokes. The suspension layout integrates independent suspension with front and rear torsion bars, and the rear torsion bars and bushings were replaced under 1000 miles ago.
The cabin features black leather upholstery with yellow accent stitching. Interior materials were refreshed in 2022 and the work completed that year included replacement of the headliner, reupholstery of both front seats and door cards, and new carpeting. The yellow stitching is easily dyed should a new owner prefer to move away from it, this from the shop that installed it. Features of this car include cruise control, power windows, power locks, heated power-adjustable side view mirrors, rear wiper, front headlight washer switch, and a windshield wiper interval dial.
The factory four-spoke steering wheel fronts the original VDO gauges with a 170 MPH speedometer and a centrally positioned tachometer with a 6,700 RPM redline. Additional instrumentation includes gauges for the fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, turbo boost pressure, and a Quartz clock. Aftermarket gauges include air/fuel ratio gauge and a boost pressure gauge, in place of the factory integrated boost gauge which is currently not functional. The seller received a repair quote of approximately $1400 CAD to repair the factory boost gauge and preferred to supplement with the air/fuel mixture gauge. The factory Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 cassette stereo head unit is in place, though no speakers are installed at this time while the seller notes that all speaker wiring is present should the next owner wish to install new speakers. The air conditioning compressor is currently not installed.
This 911 Turbo’s powerplant is a 3.3-litre turbocharged flat-six, factory-rated at 282 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The seller reports that a top-end engine rebuild was performed under 2000 miles ago, using ARP head studs; supporting invoices are included and shown in the photo gallery (images 216-219). Engine-related upgrades within the last 2000 miles further include a larger Fabspeed intercooler, RarlyL8 headers, a rebuilt k27 turbocharger, and a Fabspeed muffler. The catalytic converter has been removed, and the original intercooler, muffler, and exhaust manifold are included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The transmission was rebuilt and the clutch replaced approximately ten years ago with roughly 10,000 miles (16,000 km) having been driven since this work was completed. The car received a new CDI box, ignition coils, and a wiring harness kit under 1,000 miles ago. The six-digit odometer displays under 114,000 miles.
