Overview

Here is a restored 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 SportsRoof, finished in Blue Glow over Black knit vinyl bucket seats and is powered by a modified Q-code 351 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8 paired with a C-6 Select Shift three-speed automatic transmission. This true “Q” code Mach 1 car was built in Dearborn, Michigan, originally sold through Kaye Ford Sales in Kitchener, Ontario and it is one of 527 examples produced for 1973 with this specific paint and trim combination. The car underwent a restoration approximately 20 years ago, with additional upgrades and repairs completed during the seller’s four-year ownership. The odometer shows under 12,000 miles and this Mustang Mach 1 is offered by the seller with two sets of keys, a Deluxe Marti Report, a copy of the original factory invoice, and the original Firestone Wide Oval spare with raised white lettering. The seller has opted for our mobile PPI service, and a link to the inspector’s report will appear here.
The exterior has been refinished in its factory-correct Blue Glow Metallic (Ford Paint Code 5210-A) , and the seller advises the car received a full repaint approximately 20 years ago under prior ownership. It features Mach 1-specific trim and graphics, TuTone hood paint with non-functional NASA-style hood with scoops (a.k.a. Ram Air), front and rear spoilers, racing mirrors, and chrome bumpers. Minor paint flaws, chips, and scratches are shown at the end of the photo gallery. Appraiser’s 2021 report suggests that the car retains its original glass while bumper rub strips and side marker lights are equipped. This car is one of 10,144 examples of the 1973 Mach 1 Fastback with the TuTone hood paint as set out in the Deluxe Marti Report.
Period-correct 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, size P235/60R15 and date-coded 2207 as shown in the gallery. The car retains a factory spare—a Firestone Wide Oval 14” with raised white lettering with space in the trunk to accommodate. Braking is by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. Suspension work under current ownership includes new front shocks. The odometer shows under 12,000 miles and without documentation from new, this car is presented as TMU (total mileage unknown).
The cabin features Black knit vinyl bucket seats (Ford Code GA) with matching door panels, carpeting, and headliner. Interior work completed during the seller’s four-year ownership includes a new dashboard, console, and door panels. The seats, headliner, and trim appear to remain original, with normal wear noted by the appraiser. The Mach 1 Sports Interior Option is confirmed on the Marti Report. Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer maxing out at 8000 RPM, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil temperature, coolant temperature, and charging status. A Jensen aftermarket AM/FM/CD/MP3 head unit with removable faceplate and carry case is installed. The seller advises some interior work remains to be completed around the rear window area.
This Mach 1’s powerplant is a Q-code 351 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8, equipped from the factory with a four-barrel carburetor. The engine retains a factory-correct appearance and includes mild upgrades as per the seller: a performance camshaft, aftermarket intake manifold, headers, and a 4-barrel Holley 750 CFM carburetor. A tune-up and carburetor rebuild were performed within the last 4 years under current ownership; along with the installation of a new power steering pump. Factory options include power steering and power front disc brakes. The disc feature is indicated on the brake pedal itself.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a C-6 Select Shift three-speed automatic transmission (Ford Code ‘U’), as confirmed by the Marti Report. The seller notes a differential repair was completed within the last 4 years. The undercarriage is described in the appraisal as unrestored and unmodified, and no major rust or corrosion is visible as shown in the photo gallery. The seller believes the car will pass an Ontario safety inspection as it sits.
This 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback is offered by the seller with a Deluxe Marti Report, a copy of the original factory invoice to Kaye Ford Sales in Kitchener, Ontario, two sets of keys, and a matching Firestone Wide Oval spare in Holland Landing, Ontario.
