2021 08 23 CCC Featured External Listing 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 Convertible represents the last year of the first-generation Camaros.  This first generation was a short one, beginning with the debut in 1967, and somewhat reflective of the pony car against which it was produced to compete against – the Ford Mustang which hit the streets in 1964 as a 1965 model.

Finished in blue over a white interior, this car is a 13-year-old restoration.  Complementing the LeMans blue paint are “hockey stick” stripes on each fender and chrome dual exhaust pipes.  The car is noted as non-numbers matching so we can’t comment on horsepower figures for the 350 now powering the rear wheels through the rebuilt 350 Turbo automatic transmission.  It is said to be running a mild cam and a four-barrel Holley carburetor.  Odometer reads 81,000 miles on this US-market car (Canadian-market cars also had odometer readings in miles at this time) but as a non-original car with five-digit odometer, we conclude it is a TMU car – true mileage unknown.

While not an original “survivor”, the cowl tag is in place and decodes as follows:

  • #12467 -Eight-cylinder convertible
  • #NOR – Built in the Norwood, OH plant
  • #09C – Build date, Third week of September
  • #ST69- Build year, 1969
  • TRM#727 – Ivory white interior
  • PNT#71- LeMans blue paint
  • White Top

The original-style Rally wheels are skinned in BF Goodrich raised white-letter radials, also period-correct for this car.  The chrome bumpers, side vents and rear spoiler add to the theme of 1969 muscle.  Air shocks in the rear are a nice touch of modernity.  We would love a chance to hear this engine roar.

Engine bay containing the big 350 looks as clean as the rest of the car.  This adds to peace of mind to the remote shopper.  Seller does mention that this is a fair-weather car only and always garage-stored.
