2021 10 05 CCC Featured External Listing – 1967 Porsche 911S Targa with soft-window

It is no secret, we are profiling this 1967 Porsche 911S Targa with soft-window to show off the appeal of the car paying tribute to it we have on offer this week, the 1974 Porsche 911S Targa 5-speed manual Soft-window & Long Hood conversion Resto-mod Outlaw.  The original is the original, of course, but this rebuilt version is seeking quite a bit more in terms of price than is the ’74 we have on offer, the latter of which retains its original numbers-matching powertrain.

In 1967, the type 901/02 engine was a holdover from 1966 and its output was 160 horsepower.  (At the asking price, it would be nice to see a photo!)  The ’66 was the first to offer the 5-spoke forged alloy wheels from Fuchsfelge – Fuchs as we call them on this side of the Atlantic – and they continued on, as seen on the ’67 at hand.

The 1974 tribute car offered 175 horsepower from the factory, which while not measured on a Dyno, is believed to be greater today based on the engine build.  The Fuchs on the CCC car look to be of identical profile appearance to the 1967’s – no coincidence as its build was well-researched – 16×6 up front and 16×7 in the rear.

The dashes on the two cars are different – as expected, given that each stays true to its model year.  The tribute build did not aspire to replicate the dash of an earlier car, so the 1974’s gauges and dash itself are the modernized versions.  The ’67 has beautiful red seats with houndstooth pattern inserts on the front seats.  While the ’74 retains its original black rear seats, the fronts have been upgraded to period Recaros, giving it more of a “driver’s car” feel.

The exterior is where the ’74 tribute shows.  We see similar venting at the headlights, rear bumperettes, targa roof panel, stainless steel targa bar and the vaunted removable soft window in the rear.  We note that the ’74 comes with a second roof, in colour-matched fibreglass, as well as tires in a more contemporary width.
