1931 Ford Model A Tudor 2-Door Sedan 3-Speed Manual

This is a 1931 Ford Model A Tudor 2-Door Sedan 3-Speed Manual offered from the collection of “The Big Guy”. It was one of two Model A’s acquired for his personal collection in 2011 after what we surmise was an exhaustive restoration. Cosmetically, the car appears fault-free after being carefully kept the past 14 years in the collection. Under the hood is a 200.5 cubic inch inline-four cylinder engine with L-Head. There is a three-speed manual transmission in place to get power to the rear wheels. We call the finish taupe on tan with a black roof and fenders over a plush tan interior. Wire wheels measure 19” and are finished in black, including the rear-mounted spare. The windshield tilts out for ventilation and a four-wheel mechanical drum brake system is in place.  Ontario buyers, please note – this car comes with an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate.

Dual high-mount mirrors appear on the A-pillar and there is one taillight. Running boards are covered in vinyl with metal Ford plaques doubling as accent pieces as well as steps for ingress. The roof is covered in vinyl while the 19” spokes are outfitted with a set of 4.75” Goodyear All-Weather tires. Chrome and paint retain a bright shine while under the windshield visor is found a single windshield wiper.

The cabin features seats covered in a tweed-type fabric, two buckets in front and a bench in the rear. Map pockets are installed in the two doors. All four side windows roll down by manual operation. Rubber mats are in place underneath to protect the wooden floor boards. The ribbed headliner is well attached, under a mark-free vinyl-covered roof.

The stock four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a metal and wood dash. Instrumentation is mounted in the centre, featuring an ammeter, speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge. The odometer shows just over 10 miles, believed reset on completion of the surmised restoration. Total mileage is not known.

The 200.5 cubic inch engine with L-head produced 40 horsepower when new, complemented by 128 lb.-ft. of torque. At the car’s base, the undercarriage presents as well as other painted surfaces; same can be said of the engine room. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the 3-speed sliding-gear manual transmission.  The car had been sitting in indoor heated storage since the Big Guy’s passing in November 2023 with a connected battery; given this, the car is being sold with a new battery. The owner believes the Model A will pass Ontario Safety as it sits.
