1966 Ford Mustang Convertible 3-Speed Manual
This 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible 3-Speed Manual benefits from an extremely comprehensive and high-quality restoration which observed the original factory specifications of the car, taking few liberties. It is smartly finished in Wimbledon white over a red interior and contrasting with a powered black convertible top. There is a photograph of a photograph in the gallery, which is a pre-restoration photo (image 181 in the gallery), showing factory wheel covers while the car now shows off its wonderful restored condition with a staggered set of Magnum 500 14″ wheels with Cooper Cobra tires sporting raised white lettering – each a popular period look. Following the exhaustive restoration, the car participated in the Centennial Celebration of the Ford Motor Company in 2003, appropriate for a Mustang – maybe Ford’s most popular all-time nameplate – and appropriate for this particular car, in its near show-car condition.
Seller is a dealer and will take ANYTHING on trade. Please contact us before auction-end with what you have and some photos and we’ll get you a quote for your knowledge before you bid. (Don’t leave it until the last day.) This will also help with sales tax for Canadian residents (sales tax will be payable on the net between the ’66 Mustang, CCC lot 122, price less your trade).

This car’s factory configuration makes it a rare pony indeed. It is spec’d with a 200 cubic inch straight six-cylinder engine, as offered on many early Mustangs. Paired with the 3-speed manual transmission shifted from the floor, though, the combination simultaneously lends this car uniqueness with plenty of zip.
Â
The white on red is an effective colour combination and pleasing to the eye. The red vinyl upholstery on the seats is complemented by matching loop-pile carpeting. Chrome and other brightwork shines brilliantly, furthering the impression this car makes when it attracts the natural collection onlookers an early Mustang brings. The car further pays homage to its roots by retaining the manual steering and four-wheel drum brakes as installed at the factory
The car was recently appraised at $55,000. Other equipment contributing to its value are the Ford-branded AM/FM radio with push-button presets, Day/Night rear view mirror, heat/defrost, tonneau cover and clock (non-fuctional). Retrofitted since new and adding to safety and performance are the 4-way emergency flashers (switch found at image 145, neatly tucked away) and Rally-Pac tachometer. Even the trunk is presentable and the books photographed in image 172 come with the car: two restoration books, two parts books, an illustrated facts book and an owner’s manual for the radio.
The engine compartment is a treat to take in, restored and refinished. Details abound: Gloss Black firewall, inner fenders, and factory components including a chrome air cleaner, FoMoCo windshield washer fluid bag, decals, and emblems. Underneath, the floors are undercoated for sound deadening and the tidy chassis/undercarriage retains OEM factory-type suspension components. Please review the gallery photos of the underside, it is clean and free of any corrosion, other than some minor occurrences on the surface of the springs and muffler.
The Coopers are staggered to match the Magnum 500s. Tread is beefy and ensures good grip, though we hope the new owner keeps this 1966 Mustang out of the rain. Up front, rubber is sized at P215/60 R14 with measurements of P245/60 R14 in the rear. Both wheels and tires present as clean and sharp at all four corners. Other neat features are the vent windows, one-button power top and matching Mustang-branded rubber mats
This 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible 3-Speed Manual is available with two sets of keys, pre-restoration photo and the described books from the selling dealer in Watford, Ontario.
