1995 Porsche 911 993 Carrera Cabriolet 6-speed Manual

Here is a 1995 Porsche 911 993 Carrera Cabriolet 6-speed Manual that was featured with the CCC booth at the August 27 Porsche Club of America Upper Canada Region (PCA UCR) Concours d’Elegance.  It comes with a recent extensive, no-expense-spared engine overhaul making it ready to go for many, many more years and miles of enjoyment.  The 993 series of 911 was released for the 1995 model year and is considered by many as the holy grail of 911, being the last of the air-cooled cars – the subsequent 996 generation came next, with a water-cooled engine, as installed in all 911s since.  The engine refresh this car has been treated to came at great expense and by a franchised Porsche dealer recognized by the factory for its experience and brand enthusiasm as a Porsche Classic Partner, a distinction held by a mere four Porsche centres nationwide – a profile of the service advisor named on the work order appears on the national Porsche web site.  Porsche Lauzon’s work order is included in the gallery, to the tune of over $29,000, including a $3,500 advance deposit, and commissioned in 2021 under 3,000 km ago by the most recent owner, who was its custodian 13 years.

This Canadian-market 993 Cab was originally delivered by Porsche Centre Winnipeg and was then registered in Ontario in 1997.  For Ontario bidders, it will be delivered to its new owner with a valid Ontario Safety Standards Certificate.  Its flat-six displaces 3.6-litres and is mated with a six-speed manual transaxle.  This Cabriolet is finished in Polar Silver with a black soft top over matching grey and black partial leather interior.  This 993 is equipped with 17″ Cup II wheels, all four freshly refinished; cruise control, air conditioning and a Continental aftermarket stereo with integrated Bluetooth function, microphone discreetly installed on the right side of the centre console.  Another recent update is that the two headlight lenses have been replaced – they are crystal-clear, without the foggy finish sometimes plaguing older lenses.  The engine was overhauled in June 2021 at Porsche Lauzon, the work order is included in the gallery.

The car is finished in Polar Silver (Porsche code A8), featuring a power-retractable soft top in black (Porsche code V9) as well as headlight washers; fog lights; power-adjustable mirrors; a speed-activated rear spoiler, demonstrated in listing videos, below; and dual exhaust outlets, featuring polished tips.  The front bumper cover has been repainted to a high-quality finish while the owner also notes some sag in the interior liner of the soft-top.  A wind deflector for top-down driving is included and photographed in the gallery.

Staggered, silver freshly refinished 17″ Cup II wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport AS tires with 2021 date codes and installed in the past 5,000 km, P205/50 up front and P255/40 aft of the cabin, Y-rated. Braking is handled by Porsche-branded calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.

The seats are upholstered in grey leather, aft of a contrasting black dashboard.  Amenities include a Continental head unit with Bluetooth, factory Digital sound system, on-board computer, cruise control, and air conditioning. The front seats have both power and manual adjustment functions.  Lloyd’s custom mats in black, purchased for this car, are in place, the original OEM grey mats are also included.

The period four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a central 7800 tachometer with 6800-rpm redline, a 300-km/h speedometer, a functional analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, as well as fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 144,000 km. The Carfax report linked in CCC Vital Info corroborates the distance travelled reading, it also indicates an accident- and damage-free car.  Recent servicing has included an oil service in August 2023, new headlight lenses, refinish of all four Cup II OEM wheels and a cut and polish of the entire car to result in its bright shine.  The engine overhaul at Porsche Lauzon was in 2021 at 141,000 km.

The air-cooled 3.6L flat-six was factory rated at 270 horsepower (6100 RPM) and 243 lb-ft of torque, realized at 5000 RPM.  This generation of normally aspirated 911 was delivered new as a sub-5 second 0-60 car.

Power goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle. Underside photographs are included in the gallery below.

Decoding the option sticker which is still affixed to the underside of the front trunk reveals the codes:

220 – Limited slip differential

224 – Active brake differential

233 – Internal production code related to tires

331 – Becker-Porsche CR-1 stereo (since replaced)

398 – 17″ wheels

454 – Cruise control
