This is a one-of-a-kind 35th Anniversary 1999 Ford Mustang GT Convertible which we at Collector Car Canada are representing for the seller, a dealer in Perth, Ontario. It boasts extensive modifications, the centrepiece of which is the Saleen supercharger. Mustang aficionados will know this name as a recognized Mustang tuner, approved by Ford. More details follow.
This 1999 Mustang GT left the factory with a horsepower rating of 260, accomplished at 5250 RPM and torque of 300 lb.-ft. (4000 RPM). It has a four-speed automatic transmission rowing through the gears and delivering the power to the rear. Though the selling dealer has not had the car dyno’d the supercharger is believed good for an additional 150 horsepower at a minimum, pushing the rating over 400. The powerplant has driven the car to an odometer reading of 109,000 km. Reflective of agreements between Saleen and Ford, the installed parts are factory-approved. A decal under hood sets this out, though labelling has faded with age.
Below is an incomplete list of mechanical and other modifications under the hood:
- Saleen supercharger (Part numbers photographed on an under hood photo)
- Chrome stabilizer bar
- Cold air intake with Vibrant Performance-branded pipes
- Performance exhaust producing an incredible sound
- Red-painted Brembo calipers
- Cross-drilled, vented rotors at all four corners
- Chrome-covered alternator
- Chrome-covered pulleys
- Chrome piping
- Various chrome fluid caps, including a Ford Racing oil cap
- Chrome oil dipstick handle
- Chrome-covered shock towers and retaining fasteners
- Redline Tuning hood lift supports
- Saleen Serpentine belt
Exterior retains a nice shine in Laser red with contrasting decal packages. Five double-spoked American Muscle chrome rims are shod in Nitto Extreme ZR rubber, 275/35R18 up front and 285/35R18 in the rear, W-rated all the way around. The larger than stock rear spoiler helps make the statement of this convertible. Exterior has also been treated to extensive cosmetic mods, an incomplete list:
- Decal kits
- Aftermarket grille
- Aftermarket headlights
- Contrasting fuel cap
- Darkened taillight lenses
- Chrome-badged fuel cap
- Shortened antenna
The factory hood intake and front spoiler have been retained and are contributors to the overall aggressive look of this 35th Anniversary Mustang GT convertible.
Inside, the seats are finished in grey leather. Again, the factory appointments like the steering wheel, door cards and speaker system mesh well with the upgrades – another incomplete list:
- Kenwood Double-DIN head unit with reverse camera display and navigation
- Kicker amps setup in trunk
- White-faced dash gauges with predominant MPH speedometer readings, by AutoMeter (Odometer remains in kilometres.)
- Chromed headlight knob
- New facing on HVAC controls (A/C blows cold)
- B&M shifter
- Boost gauge on driver A-pillar, by AutoMeter
- Air-fuel mixture gauge also on driver A-pillar, by AutoMeter
- Perforated metal pedals
Further to the mention of the MPH speedometer, the Transport Canada label in the driver door jamb is tell-tale evidence of this Mustang being a Canadian-market vehicle. This is a well-optioned car, to the power seats – all power on the driver’s side, power- and manual controls mix for the passenger.
The trunk also contains treats relating to the convertible top. In it, the new owner will find a 2-piece colour-matched Speedster cover set, which cover the rear seats with the top down to lend a sporty feel – “Speedster”. Also found there is a tonneau cover for when the roof is down as well as a windscreen in glass with a Mustang logo.
All of this adds up to an extensive package of goodies in this GT Convertible, which sounds incredible. Videos can be found below, between this paragraph and the photo gallery. They show off this sound as well as a walkaround and the power top in operation. This Mustang GT Convertible is now open for your bids and available in Perth, Ontario, within an hour of Ottawa, to the southwest.
