2001 BMW M3 Cabriolet 6-Speed Manual SOLD for $25,500

Presented here is a 2001 BMW M3 Convertible 6-Speed Manual, finished in Carbon Black Metallic over a Cinnamon leather interior. The ’01 M3 is powered by BMW’s high-revving S54 3.2-litre inline-six engine, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The odometer shows under 105,000 kilometres, and the car is offered by its owner of 12 years who purchased from a franchise BMW Canada ownership some 23,000 km ago with two keys, replaced factory parts, and extensive, detailed maintenance records over the years shown in the gallery.  Ontario buyers, please note:  the car comes with an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate.

The exterior is finished in Carbon Black Metallic (Carbonschwarz metallic on the German language label on the driver’s front shock tower).  The seller advises that the front end was refinished following a minor incident in which the vehicle was backed into at low speed, noted on the Carfax as an insurance of under $1,600. The initial insurance repair quote, shown in gallery images 261 and 262, included partial refinishing of the hood and blending into adjacent panels, along with the replacement of the hood emblem and grill assemblies. 

At the body shop’s recommendation, the seller opted to have the entire hood stripped and repainted, with blending carried out on the front fenders. The additional repairs were performed at the seller’s expense, as documented by invoices shown in images 263 and 264.  An XPEL protective film (PPF) is installed on the front end of the car and the most forward-facing portions of the aerodynamic side mirrors. The black power-operated convertible soft top is shown operating in videos and additional photos are also available in the gallery. Other exterior features include Xenon low-beam headlights clear-lens side markers, round front fog lamps, dual exhaust outlets on each muffler for four total, and M3 badging.

Factory staggered-width BMW Style 67 alloy wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, all installed in May 2025. Date codes from the sidewalls show 0125 and 1025 production, and the seller notes minimal mileage since installation. Braking is handled by a power-assisted four-wheel anti-lock disc system, and suspension has been updated by replacement of the rear trailing arm bushings and installation of a limiter kit. A Strong Strut front strut bar is installed on the front shock towers. A wheel alignment was recently performed and brake fluid was flushed during current ownership.

Inside, the cabin boasts Nappa leather upholstery in Cinnamon with power-adjustable heated front sport seats. The leather-wrapped M Sport steering wheel fronts an M-branded cluster. Interior equipment includes climate control with air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, cruise control, and an aftermarket stereo head unit and trunk-mounted CD changer, the latter currently inoperable without the original head unit. The original BMW BUSINESS AM/FM/cassette is included in the sale, however, as is the original air intake.  Factory books include the owner’s manual and radio guide; there is also a full service manual. The convertible top lift mechanism has received service, including new hydraulic tension cylinders.  See it in operation in our videos.

M3-dedicated (I.E. distinct from non-M E46 cars) instrumentation includes a 300 km/h speedometer, 9000 RPM tachometer with a redline of 8000 RPM, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil temperature and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads under 105,000 kilometres and is displayed alongside where warning indicators would illuminate and a service interval display, all of which are shown illuminated in the gallery. A full sweep of indicator and warning lights are visible at start-up, including icons for oil level, EML, ABS, DSC, brake wear, and SRS. The gauge cluster bears factory M badging, with all lighting and indicators functional.

Power is delivered by BMW’s naturally aspirated 3.2-litre S54 inline-six engine, factory-rated at 333 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox sending power to the rear wheels. The seller advises the car remains mechanically stock aside from the cold air intake; the original unit is included in the sale. Recent maintenance includes an oil and filter change in September 2024 and installation of a new battery, in addition to the Michelin Pilot Sports this spring. Earlier work includes VANOS bolts and nuts replacement, valve adjustment, spark plugs, oil level sender, brake lines, radiator hoses, and differential, transmission, and power steering fluid service. The seller has retained all documentation for completed service work during his ownership and has it organized chronologically in a three-ring binder, which will accompany the car. Most of the binder’s contents are included in the gallery.

This 2001 BMW M3 Convertible 6-Speed Manual is offered with two keys with remote entry function, wind deflector with carrying case, a car cover, owner’s manuals, original replaced head unit and air intake, Carfax report and a valid Ontario Safety Standards Certificate by the 12-year owner in Ottawa, Ontario.
