25K mile 2002 Maserati GT Coupe 6-Speed Manual PROJECT – a CCC “Thrifty Thursday” Offering SOLD for $10,000
Here is a 2002 Maserati GT Coupe 6-Speed Manual which, although quite presentable cosmetically, is a non-runner – this is why we have “PROJECT” in the title of the listing, it is a “Thrifty Thursday” offering, closing Thursday 21st. While it has been driven under 25,000 miles since new, it does not start. We have provided videos of the car turning over without firing. The owner bought this US-market car out of Texas in 2017 as a project for himself but has not had a chance to dedicate the time it needs to diagnose and remedy, owing to a collection that was a treat for us to take in. He was attracted to the car by its engine and transaxle combination – the engine is a Ferrari/Maserati F136 4.2 litre V8. The Maserati version employs a crossplane crankshaft while Ferrari versions – as equipped in a Ferrari Enzo – uses a flat-plane. it is a rare specimen – seller mentions that this car is one of only 1,087 manual Maserati GT Coupes produced from 2002 through 2007 – thus, the appeal. This manual GT Coupe does have a reserve, and it reflects the non-runner status.

This 2002 Maserati GT Coupe is finished in silver over blue leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes Xenon headlights, heated power-adjustable front seats, 18″ OEM wheels, and automatic climate control. The car spent time in Texas before being acquired by the current owner in 2016 and relocated to Ontario in 2017, temporarily stored in the Buffalo, NY area until it was 15 years old and thus not required to register with the Registrar of Imported Vehicles. This Coupe GT shows 25k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a Carfax report from the time of seller’s purchase, and a Canadian importation document.
The Giugiaro-designed body is signified by emblems fore of the rear wheel arches and finished in silver, featuring quad exhaust tips and black Maserati and Trident badges. Close-ups of the paintwork, lenses and trim are shown in our gallery. There are imperfections on the bumper cover and underneath it, where there is minor curb damage on the base of the radiator.
OEM 18″ staggered-width wheels wear 235/40 front and 265/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires which need to be replaced – these are the stock sizes as set out by the manufacturer in a door jamb label. Tire date codes of 2006 show in the gallery. Cross-drilled rotors are in place beneath the Maserati wheels.
The interior features a black leather dash pad, lower door panels, and power-adjustable front seats; the driver’s seat has a memory function. Other features include automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a centrally mounted Maserati-branded analog clock. Flaws include stickiness on the center console buttons, a broken center console panel by the CD changer, and marks on the base of the driver’s seat.
Instrumentation consists of a 200-mph / 320 km/h speedometer, an 8000 RPM tachometer with 7500 RPM redline, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 24,298 miles, the same reading as when the seller purchased the car.
The Ferrari-derived 4.2-litre F136 R V8 was factory rated at 390 horsepower (7000 RPM) and with 330 lb.-ft. of torque (4500 RPM). It is a double overhead cam 32-valve engine which can push this Maserati 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The engine does not start. It cranks freely (see videos). It has damage to the front spoiler, radiator and support and a minor crack in oil sump.
This 25K mile 2002 Maserati GT Coupe 6-Speed Manual PROJECT is available with original brochures, owner’s manual in a Maserati attache and two keys from the seven-year owner in Burlington, On in “AS IS, WHERE IS” condition.
