**REMOVED** 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG Roadster, Inspected
THIS CAR HAS BEEN REMOVED BECAUSE OF A VIOLATION BY THE SELLER TO THE CCC STANDARD SELLER AGREEMENT. Here is a 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG 55 Roadster which has been in the hands of the current owner for eight years, owned by the seller’s company. In preparation for the sale, the seller has arranged for a pre-purchase inspection, the results of which are LINKED HERE. It is complemented by a clean Carfax, linked in CCC Vital Info. This SLK is finished in black over beige Nappa leather. Its powerplant is a 5.4 litre V8 showing a plaque of the installer’s signature – a unique touch at the AMG division of Mercedes-Benz – mated to a seven-speed transmission sending power to the rear wheels. The AMG division began as a separate company specializing in increasing the performance of Mercedes-Benz products, acquired by Mercedes itself in 2005. Wheels are 18” and engraved with the AMG emblem, coming along with an AMG sports suspension, Harman Kardon sound, dual-zone climate control, bi-xenon headlights and COMAND navigation.

The retractable hardtop on this R171 is power-operated and can be seen in operation in the Car Review video above. It is finished in matching Black (M-B Code 040). There are a number of visual touches which distinguish this AMG model from the non-AMG SLKs, among them, smoked rear taillights – corners and centre, the AMG wheels, quad exhaust exits, rear spoiler, side skirt package and exaggerated valences. The ~1-in.2 tow hook cover on the front bumper is noted as missing and the headlight lenses show a cloudy residue. During ownership tenure, the owner has had brake work done as well as replacing the tires, battery and requisitioning routine oil changes. Hydraulic lines and fluid for the convertible mechanism have also been replaced.

The stock 16-spoke 18” AMG wheels are staggered and are lined in a set of Y-rated Falken Azenis FKS10 tires measuring 225/40 fore of the cabin and 245/35 in the rear. There is some delamination on the driver’s side rear wheel. The AMG SLKs are equipped with a suspension which has the car sitting lower than the non-AMGs, with increased stiffness in the springs, shocks and sway bars. The rotors are cross-drilled and vented, squeezed by six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers aft of the passenger compartment.

Inside the cabin, AMG-branded seats are upholstered in beige Nappa leather, the driver’s seat outer bolster shows signs of use; wear is also noted on some interior controls. Door cards match the seat colour while the centre console and dash provide contrast. The extensive equipment theme continues here: power-adjustable heated and ventilated bucket seats with memory settings, KOMAND navigation, dual-zone climate control and Harman Karmon sound are all in place. Protective mats and bright work on door sills also feature the AMG emblem. The gear selector features side-to-side movement for upshifts and downshifts by driver input. A spare set of Mercedes-Benz-branded mats is included.

The three-spoke steering wheel with central Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star fronts a 320 km/h speedometer. Adjacent to it is a 7000 RPM tachometer with 6500 RPM redline. Within these are an analog clock and fuel gauge, respectively. The odometer between the two shows under 168,000 km, above the reading for a trip odometer with dual distance function. The inspector recommends a flush and fill for the power steering pump fluid. Further to inspector recommendation, the seller is including a new, uninstalled engine air filter, photo appears in our gallery.

SL is used for the German for Sport, Light, as with Mercedes-Benz SL models. K is used for the German kurz, translated to English loosely as short. The normally-aspirated V8 has a displacement of 5.4 litres and was factory rated at 355 horsepower. Torque is even more prodigious, at 376 lb.-ft and these combine to propel this 3455 lb. two-place convertible with alacrity, measuring 0-60 times in the 4.3 second range by Car & Driver Magazine. The seven-speed automatic transmission is known as a 7G-Tronic and can be shifted manually right on the floor-mounted gear control.

Listing text has been updated for the seller including a new, uninstalled engine air filter, as recommended in the Inspector’s report. See photo 170.
This car has been amazing & always reliable – I had fun with it but just don’t drive it enough. Will miss it and I’m excited for the next owner who’s going to enjoy the next chapter with it!
