This is a 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed. Originally delivered by Bentley Newport Beach, it continued to be serviced there and Symbolic Motor Car of La Jolla, a high-end independent which had a Ferrari F40 in stock at the time of writing, until being imported to Canada in 2012. In Canada, it was first serviced at Grand Touring Automobiles in Toronto and has been serviced there as well as a couple of independents in the Greater Toronto Area since. Regular service is set out on the Carfax report in addition to select work orders included in the photo gallery of the listing. The Carfax shows one claim, for an amount of $2,495 CAD – quite a small sum for a car with an original MSRP of $245,000 CAD.

The 2008 Continental GT was a re-skin from prior years. It is also the first model year offering of the “Speed” trim which added 48 horsepower to the 6.0L W12 engine for a whopping 600 HP (at 6000 RPM) from the factory in exchange for an extra $25,000 in price. Torque was rated at 553 lb.-ft. at a mere 1750 RPM and the Speed’s suspension comes with a sharper tune. For this much power in an ultra-luxury coupe, an all-wheel drive system is the obvious choice by Bentley, complemented by electronic stability control, traction control, adaptive self-leveling suspension and anti-lock brakes – of course. And a good thing, with all of that power.
The car possesses a triple black theme – paint, matte-finish wheels and interior. Paint gleams in the sun, all trim and lights present as one would expect from a Bentley. The big grille announces the impressive car’s arrival and there are matching appointments below the front bumper covering generous air intakes. Parking sensors can be spotted on bumpers front and rear, all glass shows the hallowed Bentley crest. The rear bumper incorporates symmetrical dual exhaust outlets in an extension of the clean finish. The matte finish wheels are 21” and a “square” set up – the Continental ContiSportContact5 tires are Y-rated and measure 285/30ZR21 at all four corners; date codes are 2017 and 2018. The matte wheels would benefit from a refinish, a tire displays some sidewall damage and rockers show some road staining – build this into your bids.
The black interior of this car is extremely clean, clearly the seller has found an excellent detailer. Diamond-quilted leather is rich and combines beautifully with the wood grain accents and knurl-finish metalwork; a mid-dash Breitling analog clock builds up the car’s exclusiveness. Even the dead pedal and floor mats exude elegance as the “Speed” trim is shown off in the door sills. The trunk of this car reflects little use and features a built-in trickle charger to use when the car is not used for extended periods. Consistent with a car with an original price over $200,000, the features list of this machine is long. Some of the obvious – power windows/locks/mirrors, sport shifter for the 6-speed auto with knurled chrome and hide, AM/FM/CD/MP3 with 6-disc changer in the glove box, steering wheel-mounted controls, DVD Navigation, Cruise, Power Sunroof. And then, some of the next step up – Speed door sills, drilled alloy pedals, information display centre monitor, tilt/telescopic steering column and heated front seats.
As luxurious as this car is, the driving experience is about the extreme power. When the 6.0 litre W12 engages its two turbochargers, it can get the Speed to 322 km/h and 0-60 in 4 seconds flat – even at 2,350 kg, the car is fast. The six-speed Manumatic sends all of that power to all four wheels with the various aforementioned traction control technology to keep things on the rails. The big W12 has powered this car to its 134,000 km travelled to date. Though some think of Bentley as luxury over sport, the car does offer Sport mode for more spirited driving and deploying those 600 horses. The very clean engine compartment – we are thinking of the seller’s detailer again – is on explicit display in two of the videos. Not winter-driven, this car’s underside is also near flawless, on display in the still photo gallery. Regular service is noted on the Carfax, most recently under 2,000 km ago at Grand Touring Automobiles – a franchise Bentley, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lotus, Polestar and Rolls Royce dealership – in Toronto.
There is a lot more to this feature-, power- and beauty-rich 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed but we are sadly limited by space. It is available from its owner in Toronto, Ontario. It is being represented by the shop maintaining the owner’s air-cooled Porsche 911.
