28K km 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible 6-Speed Manual with SHAKER Package

This is a 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible 6-Speed Manual with SHAKER Package, a package first offered this model year for the modern Challenger, the cars individually numbered. This is a Canadian market car and one of 130 to stay in its country of manufacture; this Challenger was assembled in Brampton, Ontario. Further distinguishing this car is its conversion to a convertible by Droptop Customs of Florida. The original 1970 – 1974 Challengers were offered in a convertible body style while the most recent incarnation beginning in 2008 was not offered by Dodge as a convertible until its final year of 2023. It is worth noting that Dodge chose the same Droptop Customs as the conversion shop for those Challenger convertibles ordered new as they were low enough in volume to preclude outfitting the assembly line for this process. This Challenger comes with a clean Carfax and – Ontario buyers take note – an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate. This Shaker R/T has a 5.7 litre Hemi V8 engine under the hood, matched to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. Extremely rare in that this car has been converted to a convertible, this car is one of three manual transmission Shakers for Canada in Bright White making this rare, even before the Droptop Customs conversion. This Shaker R/T with Dark Slate Nappa leather is further equipped with stock 20” five-spoke wheels, each emblazoned with a MOPAR decal, performance steering, ParkSense back-up sensors, automatic climate control, HID headlights, heated front bucket seats, track-tuned suspension, UConnect infotainment with Boston Acoustics audio, Keyless Go and HID headlights.

The R/T is finished in its original Bright White with a Shaker hood. The Bright White is complemented by two matte black stripe packages to give the car even more pop. The over-the-top stripes initiated at the shaker hood’s opening is a stock look while the side HEMI Billboard stripe with red SHAKER accent aft of the doors were adhered with an aftermarket kit. The Shaker hood is functional, feeding an air intake within. The exterior is further appointed with these factory items – an aluminum fuel door finished in Satin black, Challenger emblem on the grille, front and rear spoilers, polished dual exhaust finishers as well as rear back-up sensors trademarked ParkSense by the Chrysler Corporation.

The car was converted to a convertible by the leader in Challenger convertibles, Droptop Customs, at its facility in Florida – so much so that Dodge chose it to convert factory order Challenger convertibles for the last year of this generation in model year 2023. The black soft top is power operated by a switch located on the lower dashboard of the cockpit. Located adjacent are two window switches for the side glass behind the doors, replacement for the fixed glass in place from the Dodge factory. There are two retaining brackets which must be released to lock and unlock the top for its power operation and a convertible top boot fitted into place with velcro. There is a Droptop Customs emblem on the trunk lid below the rear spoiler while the spoiler now houses the centre brake light originally installed on the parcel shelf of a coupe. Structurally, this SHAKER was strengthened in the conversion to a convertible – watch our detailed video linked under the main photo and see stabilizer bars under hood. As well, an X-frame was installed with reinforcements to rockers, A-pillars and the horseshoe area where the top comes down – all detailed on the Droptop Customs web site.

This Shaker was equipped from the Dodge factory with 20” Satin Aluminum wheels. Goodyear Eagle F1 tires are fitted all around, in a staggered formation. The Y-rated F1s are 245/45/20 in front and 255/45/20 in the rear. Tires are date coded 2019 (one in the 52nd week) and were installed in 2021, 5,000 km ago. Underneath is a four-wheel disc anti-lock braking system. Suspension is track-tuned from the Dodge factory, where performance steering with a variable-displacement pump was also installed. The Vanishing Point decal on the rear is a reference to the successful 1971 movie that employed a period white Challenger as a central element. The driver’s side front wheel shows curb rash.

In the cabin, the front bucket seats are heated, that on the driver’s side is power operated. Nappa leather in Dark Slate Grey covers seating for five occupants, with shoulder belts for all. There is contrasting orange stitching on the seats with a matching “SHAKER” emblem embroidered into each front seat back. The rear bench is equipped with a centre arm rest and is folds with a 60/40 split. The Uconnect system is controlled by a 6-1/2” colour touch screen as well as tactile buttons. Its sound is by Boston Acoustics while there are cruise control, automatic climate control and a Keyless Go on offer for occupants.

While our American neighbours may believe that 2,000 Shaker editions were produced for the model year, the first Shakers for the modern Challenger, an additional 130 were produced for the Canadian market. This car is number 2017 and this is commemorated by a dash plaque above the glove box. These 2,130 Shaker cars were a small piece of 2014 model year production of approximately 55,000 Challengers.

In the cockpit is a three-spoke steering wheel in front of black-on-white instrumentation. The speedometer tops out at 260 km/h with a 7000 RPM tachometer with 5500 RPM redline. These larger two round gauges are flanked by smaller ones for fuel and coolant temperature. The bottom portion of each of the four is reserved for digital displays and warning lights, where the base of the speedometer houses a six-digit odometer reading under 28,000 km.

The 5.7 litre Hemi V8 was factory rated at 375 horsepower with 410 lb.-ft. to go along with it. The cold air intake visible in our photo gallery is a Mopar option. There is a six-speed manual transmission by Tremec in place, getting the prodigious power to the rear wheels only.
