2900 km One Owner 2021 Ford Mustang Shelby Super Snake Speedster

Mustang aficionados do not need the introduction but here is a 2021 Ford Mustang Shelby Super Snake Speedster.  The 2021 Shelby Super Snake Speedster moniker differentiates this car from any Mustang leaving the factory where all are currently assembled, in Flat Rock, Michigan, USA.  Ford Motor Company licenses Shelby American, a name deeply rooted in car culture, to perform modifications to current Mustang GTs – they are mechanical, functional and cosmetic.  One look at a photo of this car and some of the cosmetic modifications are obvious.  On the mechanical side, the Shelby Super Snakes are juiced up to 825 horsepower.  Conversion work is done in various Shelby American facilities in the USA; in Canada, there is only one such facility operating under licence, it is XCENTRICK Autosports in Windsor, Ontario.  When the car was brand new, XCENTRICK metamorphosed it from the Mustang GT Premium it originally was to the Ford Mustang Shelby Super Snake Speedster it now is, “Speedster” denotes it as a convertible – with the hard top tonneau system with dual speedster humps in place. Very limited production:  it is one of 98 for the year – not a number for Canada, but total production – a number chosen as a tribute to Carroll Shelby himself, who would have turned 98 years old in 2021 (he passed in 2012).  The list of Shelby Super Snake Speedster package details is long, we have included it in the gallery in a document supplied by XCENTRICK, we have also supplied the bill of sale from St. Thomas Ford indicating it as a $159,900 line item, toward the pre-sales tax price of the car of $234,029 on the noted delivery date and Ford In-Service date of May 7, 2022 – so there is plenty of factory warranty available, supported by the extended warranty covering this car.

The exterior colour is Velocity Blue Metallic, accented by carbon-fibre mirror caps, white Shelby full-body racing stripes and “Super Snake” door graphics in matching white.  Eye-catching Shelby “Super Snake” emblems catch the eye, replacing the stock Mustang badging.  The black Shelby forged aluminum wheels measure 20” and they are skinned in the original Shelby spec 305/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires with a Y speed rating.  Shelby performance racing wheel studs support the 20s.  The Shelby accoutrements listing is extensive, some are cosmetic, some functional, here is a partial list:  Shelby front fascia, Shelby front grille, Shelby rocker panels, Shelby functional dual intake Ram Air hood, Shelby chin splitter, colour-matched Shelby rear spoiler, Shelby rear taillight panel, Shelby rear diffuser and Shelby engine caps.  The Shelby CSM (Carroll Shelby Mustang) serial number appears under hood and on the dash, 21SS0801 – 21 for the model year; SS for Super Snake; 08 to denote XCENTRICK as the licensed builder and 01 as a sequence number to denote the first 2021 model year car XCENTRICK built.  This CSM number is used for tracking the car in the Shelby American Registry, confirming authenticity and performance upgrades.  All of these features are on display in the photo gallery and are complemented by some of the Ford features of the Mustang GT Premium, no slouch of a car in its own right:  rear antenna, low-profile headlights and others.  This car is also protected by Tricare Ultimate Protection for 84 months/80,000 km, Tricare labels applied at the dealership appear in the gallery.  With 2800 km on the clock, this is an original car with very few signs of use and very, very little wear.  We have included a Carfax on the listing, linked in “CCC Vital info”.

The inside is outfitted with the highest trim available for a Ford car, the Mustang GT Premium.  Ebony leather buckets feature heating and cooling functions as well as contrasting blue stitch.  White stitch appears on the door cards, dash cover and console.  The ebony bench in the rear is a functional unit without the hard top tonneau system with dual speedster humps in place.  The gauge display is a digital unit simulating traditional analog with various settings available to suit driver preference, this is an upgrade of the GT Premium from the conventional Mustang GT.  Audio is sublime – sound is by Bang & Olufsen, including the trunk-mounted subwoofer.  As on the exterior of this Speedster, the Shelby upgrade list is long.  There is a dash plaque capturing the unique CSM serial number.  “Speedster” floor mats are in place, the leather is upgraded to a custom two-tone finish and the buckets are embroidered with “Super Snake”.  The shift knob sports the Shelby emblem, the windows feature a deep tint and “Speedster Edition” branding accents the door jambs.  Factory Ford convenience items include Apple Car Play, Android Auto, USB port, AUX input with separate USB, Satellite radio, 2 one-touch windows, keyless entry and ignition, rear camera and sensors, climate control, cruise control, universal garage transmitter, heated mirrors and many more.  See listing appendices for details of Ford equipment packages.  The interior looks as-new, even the “Speedster” floor mats appear untouched.

Of many, the mechanical highlight is a Whipple supercharger which brings power output to a whopping 825 horsepower.  Getting the power to the pavement via the rear wheels is a 10-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifting should the driver prefer to choose the gears.  In addition to the supercharger, the Shelby Super Snake package treats the 5.0 litre V8 engine to a Performance Program Tune.  The list of performance upgrades is long.  As nice as the exterior and interior Shelby American treatments are, the name Shelby is associated with performance.  High performance fuel injectors, a performance intake with high flow air filter, a Billet throttle body, an oversized air intake tube all combine to feed the engine.  After the power stroke, the exhaust system is also beneficiary of many upgrades.  A performance aluminum heat exchanger, a Shelby-tuned Borla exhaust, Shelby dual exhaust tips highlight the upgrades post ignition and compression cycles.  There is also a transmission cooler.  On the cooling side, the Shelby extreme cooling system includes radiator and overflow tank.  All of this power is nothing without control – a Shelby-spec Brembo brake system is installed, six pistons on the front calipers and four on the rears, all calipers in red emblazoned with Shelby and Brembo emblems, discs are vented.  Stopping power is assisted by the Shelby front brake and bearing air divert cooling system.  On the underside, there is a Shelby performance track handling suspension system and Shelby half shafts.  Under the hood appears a data plate relating to the Shelby American CSM number and a separate plaque where the technicians executing the conversion engraved their initials.  Regular viewers of the site will find the ceiling-mounted HVAC system in the gallery out of the ordinary.  This is the unit that the owner had installed in the garage housing the car on purchase – it spent its first and only post-retail delivery winter in a heated garage, stored before the bad weather until after it.  The only repair or maintenance done to this vehicle in its 2800 km is a battery replacement under warranty in April 2023, work order appears in the gallery, extra rivets for the battery cover will accompany the car.
