With Reserve

We at Collector Car Canada are pleased to have this partially-wrapped in Matte Black 1974 Rolls-Royce Corniche Saloon Coupe on offer as part of our Rolls-Royce Week, it is available in Montreal.  The term “Saloon” is the preferred term in the United Kingdom for what we here in Canada call a sedan.  It is equipped with the stock 6.75 litre engine and three-speed automatic transmission sending the power to the rear wheels.  This 1974 model comes about midway through a long run, 1965 through 1980.  A substantial motorcar, it weighs over 4,600 lbs and this example is the long wheelbase version – accounting for approximately 15% of production.  Seller has submitted a walk-around and driving video, found just before the photo gallery.

This Rolls is wrapped in Matte Black on horizontal surfaces (bonnet, roof, trunk) and shows a glossy black wrap over the rest, with a black leather interior.  Colour underneath is Silver Mist Metallic Green.  Wheels are 15” and it is further equipped with disc brakes at all four corners, chrome bumpers, power accessories and an AM/FM/CD head unit with USB input.  The SMITHS odometer reads a low 53,000 miles.  Seller is representing the car for the owner.

The black exterior also features a matching black trademark Rolls-Royce grille, chrome bumpers, dual headlights and the iconic “Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament mounted above the grille.  The owner has treated the car to a monochromatic black look, partially wrapped in modern Matte Black.

The 15” wheels are capped with Rolls-Royce full wheel covers emblazoned with the “RR” crest.  Blackwall radials are mounted at all four corners to build on the monochromatic black theme.  The full covers conceal the four-wheel discs and this Rolls is equipped with an independent suspension, with a hydraulic self-leveling system on the rear wheels licensed from Citroën.  Interestingly, the original Silver Shadows were outfitted with the system on all four wheels but the feature was deleted up front in 1969 when Rolls-Royce found that all the work was being done by the aft system.

On the inside, rich leather and wood abound.  Showing wear consistent with age, the black hides are thick and free from tears.  Beyond the seats, door interiors and lower dash are also leather covered.  In addition to the wood trim for hard surfaces, there is also generously appointed chrome throughout the cabin.  Accessories are power-operated.  The stereo has been modernized with a Kenwood AM/FM/CD head unit with USB input.  This Rolls is also equipped with speed control.

Traditional for a British automobile, gauges are by SMITHS.  Behind the two-spoke steering wheel and column-mounted shifter is found instrumentation in the form of a 130-mph / 210 km/h speedometer with odometer and trip odometer incorporated within, fuel gauge and amp-meter.  There are just under 52,000 miles indicated on the SMITHS odometer.

The 6.75 litre engine is constructed primarily of aluminum and features dual carburetors.  It produced 189 horsepower when new.  The original robust three-speed automatic is a TH-400 unit manufactured by General Motors and commissioned during the era by Rolls.  Traditional for its era, this Saloon is a rear-drive unit.  Seller has included underside photos, which present well for a ’74 model.  Please see the in the gallery.

As a guy whose wife is a lover of the Rolls I know this is not quite as nice as the 71 but is still a work of art on wheels and is well worth more than what the current bid is..recently a guy on one of my fire sell sites had listed something similiar a princess at $50,000…so lets see what the bidding ends at…me ..I am thinking around $37,800..maybe we should have a contest to see who is closest guessing final bids?? Just a thought..Big Al..still truckin On..

Good Morning to All Enthusiasts demanding only the Best !!!! My Name is Alex, and I trusted Dave, the MasterMind and Architect of this great Site, to Seek and find the Next Custodian of this Great Automobile.

Current Owner wanted to Have some FUN, and took a standard Silver Mist Metallic Green Long Wheel Base Shadow (UltraRare) only 15% were LWB, and installed 2 wraps. Glossy Black Sideways All Around, and Mat Black Bonnet / Roof / Trunk. Very Well Done, and painted the iconic grill in Black as well to gave the Built a BadAss Looking. Very well Done! Car looks Fantastic.

Like all RollsRoyce of that Generation, Taking the Best that Exists, RR took a GM Transmission, and the Braking System From Citroen, only the Best at the Time. Very Effective.

It’s a BIG and LONG RR! Extreme Charisma! Great Rides.

Note: Car will need a Muffler/exhaust line. To be done by new Custodian.
