55 Years Owned, 52K mile 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Hardtop Coupe Type J 400 c.i. V8 **SOLD** for $11,500
Here is a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J, finished in blue with a matching blue interior and showing just over 51,000 miles. From the Pontiac days when the division was headed by John Z. DeLorean, DeLorean’s idea for this car was a long hood to evoke memories of the Dusenbergs of the 1930’s. This example is powered by a 400 cubic-inch V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels. Purchased from a still operating Pontiac Buick dealer March 9, 1970 (it’s now a full-line GM dealer and the car was originally registered in his paternal grandmother’s name) and not run in the winter since, it is now being offered with documents, and two sets of keys.
The car is finished in blue, consistent with the original “Warwick Blue” (code 53) noted on the cowl tag. The car was repainted in 1976, the paint shop’s invoice is in the gallery. The black vinyl roof is original, with chrome trim and accents in place. Amber-lensed auxiliary driving lamps have been added below the bumper, with an under-dash switch to operate them. Paint condition is shown in detail in the gallery, with surface corrosion observed on the trunk lid and lower trim. Wheel covers are original and mounted on the original steel wheels, lined in period whitewalls. A groundbreaking feature of the ’69 Grand Prix is the “hidden antenna” – seller relays that the car is equipped with its original windshield, with the antenna incorporated within, visible in the gallery.

Inside, the cabin is predominantly a complementary blue. Front bucket seats and rear bench seating surfaces are in cloth. The dash and door cards are colour-matched in blue, accented by simulated woodgrain trim across the dashboard and driver-centric centre stack. Controls are original and include the factory AM radio and heater. There is a three-spoke steering wheel and floor shifter to operate the Turbo-Hydramatic (TH400) 3-speed automatic. The odometer reads under 52,000 miles.
Aft of the Pontiac-branded steering wheel, instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, fuel gauge, and non-functional analog clock. Our photos show an intact dash and operational indicator and warning lights. The headliner and trim panels appear in very presentable condition. Dark red GM-branded vinyl floor mats for all four occupants are included with the car.
Under the hood is Pontiac’s 400 cubic-inch four-barrel V8, paired with the TH-400 3-speed automatic transmission. There were two 400s available for the ’69 Grand Prix, a two-barrel and a four-barrel – this car having the latter and its resultant factory-rated 350 horsepower. The engine bay shows stock configuration, and the car is equipped with power steering and power brakes. Supporting documentation includes a September 2024 service invoice covering an oil change, filter replacement, and chassis inspection.
This Model J is equipped with whitewall steel-belted radial tires, seller mentions an install date of 1976, invoice is in the gallery. Cracking is visible on one sidewall, shown in close-up in the gallery. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and trailing links at the rear, while the power brakes are by the stock layout of front discs and rear drums.
Included in the sale are a collection of service receipts dating back to seller’s purchase in 1970, and two sets of keys. A well-maintained car, the seller believes the car will pass safety as it sits. This 52K mile 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Type J 400 c.i. V8 is available with handwritten service log through 2009 supplemented by parts receipts and service records, original bill of sale, Protect-O-Plate, replaced original parts (fuel pump, heater core, spark plugs), and Sunoco service manual from the 55-year owner in Ottawa, Ontario.

Hi,
My name is Joe and I am the proud owner of this classic (muscle) survivor vehicle. I have owned it for 55 years and took great care of it. Over the years I have always stored it during the winter and I have kept meticulous documentation of all the maintenance done to the car. It is in good working order and has never given me any problems. Recently I had a maintenance inspection done and have had a grease and oil change to ensure the vehicle is road worthy. I am hoping to find a good home for my car and I am available to answer any questions.
