2005 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 6-speed manual

This 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 6-speed manual is a first-year example of the 997 generation of 911.  It followed the 996, though turbocharged, GT2 and GT3 996s were available for the 2005 model year and into 2006.  Cosmetically, the 997 marked a return to the round headlights so closely associated with the 911 marque.  This is an immediate distinguishing quality from the 996.

This piece comes in polar silver complemented by a blue interior.  Its 3.6L engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and has powered the rear wheels through 141,000 km.  While equipped with a normally aspirated engine, the car wears 19-inch OEM Turbo model wheels.

The 3.6 rear-mounted flat-six was good for 325 horsepower when new.  Zero-to-60 times were in the neighbourhood of 4.8 seconds and the next owner of this car will be able to measure current performance against this benchmark with the chrono package optioned.  Other performance features include variable-ratio power steering (a first in 2005 for 911), larger gauges and an active spoiler which engages at 120 km/h to preclude lift and re-seats itself when speed decreases to 80 km/h.  Less noticeable are the aerodynamic details up front and underneath: front spoiler, fascia and underbody treatments.

The interior is tidy.  The blue leather front headrests feature the Porsche crest embossed within.  HVAC and radio controls, a widespread problem area for 997 in terms of wear showing, appear near-new.  Alcantara headliner is a luxurious complement.  The three-spoke steering wheel manages to keep its sporting nature intact while still incorporating an airbag, a noticeable improvement from the prior year.

Blue leather seating surfaces exhibit few signs of wear.  As is often the case, the rear seats look almost unused.  The interior of the sunroof panel also enjoys the Alcantara finish and is controlled by a power switch just fore of it.

A sporting upgrade is in the form of the metal Porsche logo gas cap.  Bose sound promises audio enjoyment and comes with Bluetooth functionality – a nice modernism for 16-year-old car.  Other goodies included are a Porsche car cover for the storage months – seller represents the car as never winter-driven and as stored in a climate-controlled facility – and new OEM floor mats to protect the carpets.

Seller is willing to make maintenance records available to those who inquire.
