1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with 3.6L 993 Andial Engine, RS and Club Sport Appointments 6-Speed Manual – Inspected

Here is a 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with many improvements such that this description, while sharing many impressive features and indicating the last generation of air-cooled 911, undersells the car. The biggest upgrade in the car is an original 993 3.6 litre flat-six engine that was built by Andial. Andial was formed by three Germans in 1974 and built engines during the racing eras of Porsche 917 and 962 in California and is well known among the Porsche racing and track day crowd. The corporate name is a mix of the first two letters of each’s first name and there is one surviving member of the triumvirate. Porsche Motorsports North America bought the company in 2013 and soon after, produced five 997 Cup cars bearing the Andial name. As well, Andial clothing is available on the Porsche Design web site. Back to regular content – the car comes with a collision-free Carfax report and the seller made use of our pre-purchase inspection service by an arm’s length provider – see the glowing report from the licensed technician inspector here, it is also included in our gallery. Even more validating is the first prize trophy the car was awarded at the August 2024 Porsche Club of America Upper Canada Region Concours d’Elegance we told you about in our “What We’ve Seen” post at the time, see photo. This is not a car for the Porsche neophyte and is appropriately valued; with that we’ll note that CCC offers financing as set out here. On the same topic, it represents excellent value when compared with seven- figure values currently seen on 1995 RS’s.  We have linked some outside information about ANDIAL here and here.

The owner of this car currently lives in Burlington, Ontario and has owned the car 22 years. He previously lived in Houston and at that time bought the car out of Miami, where it was first delivered at retail, from its second owner and he put it to use at Porsche Club of America track events. Soon after, in 2004, the opportunity to acquire the Andial engine came up and he jumped on it. We have extensive documentation about build records on our gallery to substantiate the engine and all that it is. Soon after it was installed by Mike Callas of Rennsport in Sealy, Texas (work orders in gallery) it tested at 320 horsepower on a Dyno machine. The owner used it primarily for track days, keeping mileage low, and there are some photos of the same toward the end of our gallery, though it is street legal – currently licensed and insured for street use in Ontario.

The car was refinished in its original Midnight Blue Metallic in early 2024 by Luxury Auto Body in Etobicoke, Ontario. It carries many RS and Club Sport upgrades, a detailed list of which appears toward the end of our listing. When the Andial 3.6L engine was installed in 2004, it was fitted with an genuine RS VarioRam set-up for induction – “VarioRam” embossing is visible in the engine compartment – and a G50/21 six-speed manual transaxle featuring a short shifter. An incomplete list of upgrades includes such features as 18” staggered Speedline wheels, Porsche Motorsports limited slip differential JRZ triple-adjustable coilovers with remote reservoirs and TRG sway bars, RS brake calipers and cross-drilled rotors, Carrera RS CS front splitter and rear wing, which is 9 degrees adjustable.

Inside the cabin, the primary colour is black, with tan appointments in the console. The car has been fitted with a pair of Recaro race seats up front while the rear seating has been removed. Sound insulation has been removed, as has stock carpet, replaced by lightweight grey carpet through much of the cabin – though footwells are bare metal, check plate aluminum in the front, body metal in the rear where there are no occupants. Door cards have been replaced in favour of RS-style equipment with straps for door latches and basic pulls. Power windows and central locking remain, there is a Kenwood head unit with Polk Audio speakers mounted in the doors below tweeters. While the car was equipped with air conditioning from the factory, both heat and a/c components have been removed though they come with the car; fresh air can be circulated in the cabin with the stock blower. The seller advises that the interior is wired for both cool suit and lap timing systems.

The entire car was painted in early 2024 in its original Midnight Blue metallic and has done few miles since, thus exhibiting a still excellent paint finish. The front splitter and adjustable rear spoiler are RS Club Sport Porsche items. The front bumperettes have been deleted and the stock foglights have been replaced by Turbo S air intakes with incorporated foglight units up front. The rear bumper is Euro-spec while the front indicator lenses have been switched out for clear lenses. While the car has a clean Carfax and this would have been an easy item to not disclose, the owner advises that the front fender on the driver’s side was replaced in 2005 after an on-track mishap. The Carfax does show mileage inconsistencies, something we often see on U.S.-market cars attributable to confusion between reporting miles and kilometres. Witness the inspector even indicating the car shows 89,653 km when in fact the body has 89,700 miles on it. There is a small ding below the driver’s window – best seen in our Car Review video – and a couple of minor scratches.

There is a set of staggered 18” Speedline wheels installed, lined in Y-speed rated Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, 225/40 and 265/35 front and rear, respectively. While the tires show 2018 and 2020 date codes, respectively, they were installed earlier this year and have rolled fewer than 1,000 km. The Speedlines up front show imperfections – no curb rash or rust – most likely from dust from race-rated brake pads by Pagid (Pagid Blacks) that settled and was not cleaned promptly. They can be used as they are but a refinish on the two fronts would be “lighter touch” than a “curbed” set. RS-spec “Big Red” calipers and cross-drilled rotors are in place at all four corners. Suspension set-up is also ready for the track – highlighted by Elephant Racing solid bushings and links; JRZ three-way adjustable coilovers, deploying remote reservoirs; TRG springs; adjustable TRG sway bars, front and rear; monoball adjustable mounts and a front strut tower brace, visible in the front trunk. An RS gearbox and RS engine mounts complete the setup.

In the cabin, the sound insulation and OEM carpets have been stripped in favour of lightweight grey carpet and custom aluminum check-plate flooring for occupants and bare metal floor behind the seats, where the rear seats have been removed. OEM red seat belts were installed in 2024. Also removed are the heater boxes (attached to the original headers)  and sunroof mechanism, while the air conditioner is currently not connected – most of the parts to re-engage these systems are included – and fresh air can be brought into the cabin by the OEM blower, which remains in place. Recaro buckets are in place for both occupants, model is Profi XPG XL, both are so labelled, as seen in our gallery. Door cards have been modified to an RS-inspired set-up: latches by red straps with basic pulls are OEM RS items. Further modifications in the cabin include a fire extinguisher mount by BK, door-mounted Polk Audio speakers, Kenwood head unit and a short shifter topped by a Porsche Alu/Carbon Tequipment knob.

The only item that the inspector noted as other than top-rate is that the airbag light is on. This is caused by the included airbag-equipped four-spoke Porsche OEM steering wheel having been removed in favour of a three-spoke OEM RS CS MOMO steering wheel branded by Porsche logos both in emblem and script, whose diameter is wrapped in microsuede. A yellow centering stripe is also in place on the wheel. Factory VDO instrumentation remains aft of the wheel, with the centrally-mounted tachometer rotated for maximum power reading when its needle is vertical, topping out at 7,800 RPM with a 6,800 RPM red line. Speedometer to its right tops out at 300 km/h and 180 MPH while a still-functioning analog clock is placed further to the right. On the far left is a dual gauge showing fuel and oil levels, to the immediate left of the tach is another dual-purpose gauge for oil pressure and oil temperature. The five-digit odometer within the speedometer gauge indicates 89,700 miles, about 10,000 of which have been added by the current owner, the car’s third custodian. There is also a trip odometer within the speedometer gauge.

The 3.6 litre flat-six engine built by Andial was installed in 2004, at which time it had done approximately 9,000 miles and at which time the seller disposed of the stock engine. Please see specs and build sheets for the Andial engine in our photo gallery. Among the features you will see are the RS-spec camshafts, ported and polished cylinder heads, RSR headers and the RS VarioRam induction system. In the front trunk, there is a battery cut-off switch. The six-speed transaxle was also imported from Germany-by the current owner, a G50/21 manual which offers shorter gearing and was available only in Europe for a single model year, specifically chosen for the ANDIAL engine. It gets the power to the rear wheels via a Porsche Motorsports 100% limited-slip differential. There is a single disk RS clutch plate and RS flywheel, modified by ANDIAL and rated as mid-weight, to preclude stalling issues when RPMs drop too suddenly. The owner mentioned an occasional short grinding noise if shifting aggressively into sixth gear, which our videographer did not observe while shooting our driving videos.

This 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with 3.6L 993 Andial Engine, RS and Club Sport Appointments 6- Speed Manual – Inspected is available with stock/original parts (F.O.B. owner’s home) and a three-ring binder of service records going back to 1994 from the 22-year owner in Burlington, On.
