2005 Ford Mustang GT 5-Speed Manual
Here we have a 2005 Ford Mustang GT 5-speed manual, red on black and red. The 2005 Mustang was when Ford when with its new retro look, “retro-futurism in the words of one Ford executive, still in evidence on current Mustangs and with obvious homage being paid to the first generation of Mustang which started in the 1965 model year.
The retro dash design, the fastback body style, the round fog lights in the grille and the three-section tail lights all harken back to the first generation of Mustang, a stark departure from the post-Fox body models of 1994 – 2004. It was a successful move, with a marked increase in 2005 sales from the year before.

This Mustang GT is finished in a bright red. It is a slick top and still sports its original five double-spoke 17” x 8” wheels. The large round fog lights in the grille are another sporty look and they harken back to Mustangs of the 1969 model year. Dual exhaust pipes accent the fastback look in the rear. Wheels are skinned in W-rated 235/55 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires which the seller estimates have travelled 15,000 km. There are minor stone chips on the hood, which the seller believes may have been repainted. He otherwise believes this car is an original paint example, plausible when one looks at the photos of the underside which looks to be in fine condition. Paint shines – there is a Symtech sticker on the windshield, commonly sold by dealerships to protect car exteriors – while the emblems are all in place and in good condition. Light lenses are clear and uncracked, glass and mirrors the same.

With the GT trim level, this is a well-appointed car. The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel is another tribute to the Mustangs of the past, modernized with buttons for cruise control. Beyond the wheel is instrumentation highlighted by a 240 km/h speedometer and 8000 RPM tachometer. In between, there are gauges for fuel, temperature, oil pressure and voltage. Stereo is a Shaker 6 CD head unit with factory trunk-mounted two-subwoofer Kicker unit and total output of 500 watts; wear does show on some of the still-functional head unit buttons.

Under the hood lurks a 4.6L SOHC 24-valve V8 powerplant in a clean engine bay, which still emits a growl as heard in the videos. When this car rolled off the line in Flat Rock, MI, the single overhead cam engine was rated at 300 horsepower. It has powered the car to 198,000 km. Owner reports no winters and cites the clean underside to support this statement. Enthusiasts will appreciate the manual transmission, five speeds sending power to the rear wheels. The 300 HP was achieved at 5750 RPM while 320 lb.-ft. of torque was had at 4500 RPM. Traction control assists in keeping the power glued to the road, brakes are four wheels discs, with ABS. As shown in the gallery, the undercarriage is very clean for a 2005 unit that is not a trailer queen.

This 2005 Ford Mustang GT 5-speed manual is available in Scarborough, Ontario with original sales brochure and owner’s manual.
