The W123 sedan was produced for a 10-year run that ended in 1985, breaking them into three series.  This third series car features the upgrades incorporated for the 1983 model year, including an available driver air bag, proving Mercedes as an innovator.  The W123 was offered with gas-powered and diesel engines.  This diesel inline-five displaces 3.0L and was internally known by Mercedes as the OM617 A turbo.  When new, it was good for 123 horsepower and known to be torquey – to the tune of 184 lb.-ft.  Power goes to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.

Silver-blue paint presents well in the varied lighting featured in the gallery.  The majority of the paint-thickness metering readings are 6.0 and below, consistent with the clean Carfax also included in the gallery.  Some scratching on the trunk lid can be seen as can corrosion on the lug nuts.  Exterior features include fog lights, a power antenna which is automatically operated when the radio powers up or by a switch on the dash, ribbed tail lamps to keep some of the lens visible when obstructed by road debris, iconic Bundt wheels in 14” size, and a three-pointed star hood ornament – also an M-B icon of the day.  The car comes in stock form, with no modifications noted from factory spec.

The interior is a contrasting Galaxy blue.  The M-B Tex presents well – free of tears or runs.  Wood trim also has a fine appearance, though showing some wear through the years, and surrounds a period Grand Prix AM/FM/cassette player head unit by Becker.  Cruise control and air conditioning are equipped, though the latter is not currently functional and the running fan does exhibit intermittent squeal.   Power windows and central locking are in place, the seller reports a recent window regulator replacement.  One light crack is noted in the dash, it can be seen in the gallery.  Hints of elegance are seen in the form of the multi-function power sunroof, the generous rear headrests which match those for front seat passengers and thermal insulated glass – all glass is emblazoned with the venerable three-pointed star.

Seller notes that the next maintenance items are likely brake pads and ball joints.  He is including a set of pads with the car. JULY 8, 2021 UPDATE – SELLER HAS INDICATED THAT THE BRAKE WORK IS UNDERWAY, AT HIS EXPENSE.  CAR WILL BE DELIVERED WITH THE REQUIRED WORK COMPLETED.

Good Morning / Good Evening Petrolheads!! Glad to offer my old girl to the CCCCommunity. THIS is the iconic W123 300 D TURBO DIESEL.

The most recognized and beloved Mercedes-Benz in the History of the Brand. Everybody relates to this car. Your Dad or your rich uncle or your grand dad or your doctor or dentist had one!

This is your time to Shine! The SpotLight for you, Finally!

A ride to HomeDepot or to the fanciest restaurant in town: she owns the place. And You will be treated like the Dictator that You will become!! No kidding.

Most of them were Astral Silver. This one in rare SilberBlau. Very Sexy and desirable.

She will need Love down the Road. Not a 2021 boring Toyota. A Mercedes-Benz of the Best Era. Well maintained: She will outlast 5 Toyota….

Asset on your will, for next generations to Enjoy.

W123 in Pristine Condition fetch 40000 USD ; The TD Version : 60000 USD. This specimen is Far from pristine. I am looking for a reasonable 10K. Great Daily Driver she is ; Not a trailer Queen.

Good Luck!
