Warranty begins from time of first registration, 2 years or 10,000 km – whichever comes first.  While the Classic is aptly named, Royal Enfield is no longer manufacturing the Classic in 500 form.  As such, the dealer is looking forward to seeing how the bidding develops.  He is motivated to move this item.

The engine in the Classic 500 is 499 cc, air-cooled and features electronic fuel injection.  The single cylinder unit produces 27.2 horsepower at 5250 RPM.  The powerplant can get this motorcycle around pretty well as it weighs in at 194 kg, or 427 lbs.

Other mechanical details include 5-speed transmission with wet clutch and gas-charged rear shocks with 5 levels of adjustable pre-load (adjustment is included in the gallery), good for 80 mm of travel.  Front suspension is telescopic with 35 mm forks and 130 mm of travel.  The gas tank is 3-1/2 gallons and the saddle measures a generous 31 inches.

Keen observers of the photos may notice that it is equipped with both electric and kick start.  The 2018 model came with significant upgrades – anti-lock braking system (ABS), a one-piston disc brake in the rear – to complement the two-piston disc system up front – and a pillion seat for a passenger.

Tires are the original tubed AVON RoadRiders supplied as standard equipment from the factory.  Up front, it measures 90/90-19 while the rear tire is 110/80V18.  Both are V-rated and dated as one would expect, 2017.  Their condition is consistent with the sub-500 km this bike has travelled and they are mounted on the original spoked wheels.

The Battle green paint adds to the retro look of this bike.  It is actually an upgrade at extra charge when this machine was ordered new.  It continues to appeal to those looking for a traditional look and classic ride, with plenty of modern features – a nice marriage of iconic history with today’s technology.

This 2018 Royal Enfield Classic 500 motorcycle is offered in Toronto, Ontario with reserve.

You can still buy a NEW Royal Enfield, but they now ONLY are available as a 350cc or a 650cc…making this 500cc a true collectible

The Enfields were quite the ride while I was growing up in the 70’s.. They died off for a few years and more recently were mfg once again. I think Classy Chassis is a dealer up near lakefield.
