The Impressive Collection Left By “The Big Guy”
Collector Car Canada is at once honoured and excited to be offering several vehicles from the personal collection of the man who was known in circles of the Nation’s Capital as “The Big Guy”, a moniker used in promotions for his successful Ford Lincoln dealerships in the area. He left an impressive collection of approximately 25 cars and his family has carefully considered those which it can exercise regularly and those it has tasked us to move along to new custodians.

It was a privilege for our founder just to peruse the cars and admire the Ford memorabilia and machinery – all but two cars are Ford Motor Company products, a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle his daughter will continue to use and a 1978 Buick Riviera LXXV that will be offered here on CollectorCarCanada.CA. The latter is homage to his breaking in to the business at a successful Pontiac Buick dealership in the area, now a group of full-line GM dealerships, and rising through the ranks to become General Sales Manager when Ford snapped him away to be a new Lincoln-Mercury dealer.
As he built his business, his family remained the most important part of his life. In fact, his obituary reads that he was overjoyed to have both his son and daughter join him in the business and he left a wife he married in his hometown of Toronto before they ventured to Eastern Ontario to make their life. While he worked tirelessly to make a good life for his family, he did not miss a sporting event or dance recital where his kids were involved, further reflected today in the lives of the granddaughters he left behind. Another fun piece of his personal life is that he caused the family’s collective heart to skip a beat when he took up stock car racing at 50, earning Rookie of the Year honours on his chosen circuit.
