34K-mile 2000 Plymouth Prowler Convertible

Here is a 34K-mile 2000 Plymouth Prowler Convertible.  As implied by the quoted odometer reading, it is a US-market car originally purchased from very close to then-Chrysler Headquarters in Michigan with later history in Pennsylvania, Texas and Georgia before coming to Ontario and the current owner.  He has been its custodian for the past 10 years and has enjoyed it to the tune of approximately 4,000 miles.  Originally monochromatic Prowler Red, the black paint portion of the finish was added by a prior owner as a tribute to the Woodward Edition of the Prowler, named for the famous Detroit cruising boulevard and of which a total of 151 were made for the 2000 model year.

It is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 paired with a four-speed automatic transaxle “auto-stick” and is finished in two-tone Prowler Red (Chrysler code PRD) with Black, over Agate leather upholstery.  Equipment includes staggered-diameter and -width polished five-spoke wheels, black convertible soft top, air conditioning, cruise control, and an Infinity sound system connected to an AM/FM/cassette stereo with a CD changer mounted behind the passenger seat.  This Prowler is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records and a clean Carfax report.

The car is finished in two-tone Prowler Red with Black with a red-painted pinstripe with front and rear bumpers removed in the interest of improving cosmetics.  The bumpers as well as the original rear valance are included with the car along with original bolts, photos of each appear on the gallery.  Following removal of the front bumpers, indicator lights have been integrated into the control arm covers complementing cycle-style front fenders that turn with the front wheels, dual exhaust outlets, and a black manually operated convertible top that folds into the rear-hinged trunk.  A chrome-and-red Plymouth badge is affixed to the hood.

Chrome-finished 17″ and 20″ five-spoke wheels are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 PLUS tires measuring 225/45 in the front and 295/40, rearward – the stock sizes.  The tires are W-rated, date-coded 2021 as well as 2022 and were installed in late 2023 before storage, with under 500 km rolled.  The suspension utilizes coilovers mounted inboard of the narrow front bodywork, KONI shocks are visible with the hood up – see the gallery – and the brakes are four-wheel ventilated discs.

The cockpit features bolstered bucket seats upholstered in Agate leather with embossed Prowler logos on the backrests.  Door cards and carpets are a colour match to the buckets, as are the “Prowler”-embroidered mats, with a spare set of generic carpeted mats to protect those. The AutoStick shifter allows manual gear selection for the automatic transaxle.  Other amenities in the open cabin include air conditioning, cruise control, and an Infinity sound system with in-dash AM/FM/cassette stereo and rear-mounted CD changer components.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel’s column has mounted thereon a tachometer by AutoMeter, this is a stock appointment.  The body-coloured instrument panel with aftermarket hand-done trim is home to a centrally mounted 150-MPH/240 km/h speedometer flanked by gauges for voltage and oil pressure to the left, then coolant temperature and fuel level on the right. The digital odometer shows under 34,000 miles.

The 3.5-litre V6 features an aluminum block and was factory rated at 253 horsepower, with 255 lb-ft of torque.  Power goes to the rear wheels via a torque tube matched to a rear-mounted four-speed automatic transaxle.  The clean Carfax shows the original retail delivery having occurred in Bloomfield Hills, MI before service in Pennsylvania, Texas and Georgia before the car made its way to London, Ontario and the immediately-preceding owner.  Seller advises that he changed the oil every year, supplementing the four tires and other minor maintenance the car required during his ownership.
