One-Family-Owned 1976 Triumph TR6 4-Speed Manual

This is a one-family-owned 1976 Triumph TR6 4-Speed Manual that has been treated to extensive restoration over the past ten years and under 2,000 miles to render it in the beautiful condition you see and its excellent mechanical conditions.  It was purchased new by the seller’s father in 1977 and refurbished soon after being transferred to the seller in 2014. Work in 2015 included overhauling the 2.5-liter inline six, the brakes, and the front suspension, while the black interior was refreshed in 2021 – and it shows.  Shifting is accomplished via a four-speed manual transmission. The two-place convertible is equipped with a Robbins stay-fast soft top in black cloth, 15″ OEM steel wheels, a RetroSound stereo, aftermarket speakers, and a heater.  The 2.5 drives the rear wheels.  This car is believed to be the 14-last TR6 ever built, likely on the last day of production.

The car is finished in blue and equipped with a black soft top, a front air dam, the familiar OEM Union Jack TR6 decals, and rubber bumperettes over the brightwork of the bumpers themselves. The seller reports that work in 1986 included rust repair on the fenders and bumpers during the ownership tenure of the seller’s father.

Bright 15″ OEM steel wheels feature polished trim rings and are mounted with 15″ Coker Classic redline tires – an indication of the seller’s interest in maintaining originality through the various restoration processes.  Extensive service in 2014 included replacing the steering rack, brake master cylinder, and front suspension bushings as well as rebuilding the front brake calipers.

Extensive interior work was carried out in 2021, with few miles since.  New black vinyl seat upholstery was installed, as were new black carpets, the latter protected by TRIUMPH-branded floor mats.  The dashboard was repaired and a RetroSound head unit featuring AM/FM/USB input was installed in 2015.  The latter is supported by aftermarket speakers offering modern sound.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 140-mph speedometer and a 7000 RPM tachometer with 5800 RPM redline while stock gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level are mounted in the centre of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 51,000 miles, approximately 2,500 miles of which were added by the seller.

The stock 2.5-liter inline-six was overhauled in 2015, fitted with a replacement pistons, valves and camshaft. Additional work at that time included replacing the radiator, oil pump, and fuel pump as well as installing an electronic ignition system and a high-torque starter. The carburetors were serviced and the spark plugs, wires, and distributor were replaced in 2021.  Please review the work orders and other documentation in the photo gallery.  In 2021, the differential cover gasket was replaced while the clutch was seven years prior.  Despite the low mileage driven in the seller’s ownership, this TR6 was treated annual basic maintenance.  Very light surface corrosion appears on the underside of the car, please see the copious underside photos.  There is also one spot of surface corrosion about the size of a nickel on the driver’s side front fender just behind the top of the headlight, photographed.
