Here is a 2002 Porsche 911 Targa 6-Speed Manual finished in Lapis Blau (Blue) Metallic over grey full leather.  This 996 series 911 is the first year of the 996.2 generation of 996 and, as such, is powered by a 3.6 litre flat-six engine – an improvement from the 996.1 3.4L coming with an increase of 20 horsepower.  The 3.6 is twinned with a 6-speed manual transmission.  With a long list of features, some of the more prominent are Xenon headlights, power sliding panoramic roof panel with separately operated power sliding sun shade, Sport Classic wheels measuring 18” in diameter, fog lights integrated into the Turbo-look headlights, factory Porsche navigation, Bose sound to complement the Porsche CR-220 head unit and automatic climate control.  This Targa is a US-market car imported to Canada in 2009 and comes with a clean Carfax report, one key as well as an OEM all-season cover.

Finished in Lapis Blue Metallic (Porsche colour L3A8), the car has a power sliding panoramic glass roof panel, a motorized rear spoiler that deploys automatically or by a controller in the cockpit, cruise control and polished exits for the dual exhaust.  The seller advises that a Porsche dealer updated the IMS bearing in 2006; under his ownership, this was improved by removing a seal to promote better oil circulation, at which time his independent shop confirmed the 2006 upgrade.  The current owner bought in 2021 and has added approximately 18,000 km.

Sport classic wheels measure 18” in diameter and are complemented by centre caps with coloured Porsche crests.  One wheel shows curb rash while two others show delamination.  The wheels are skinned in a set of Continental ExtremeContact Y-rated tires, 225/40 on the front, 285/30 in the rear.  These tires show date codes of 2020 and owner advises that they were installed May of 2021.  Cross-drilled rotors are visible under the wheel openings with an ABS set up accented by Porsche-branded calipers.  Other recent maintenance includes water pump and alternator drive belt replacements as well as fluid changes:  coolant, transmission fluid and engine oil with LiquiMoly 5W40.

The cabin features graphite grey (Porsche colour code CZ) full leather – in addition to seats, the dash cover and portions of the door cars are so finished.  The two front buckets are power-operated and heated.  One rear seat is suffering from split seams.  The floor mats matching the grey carpet are worn in the front and a set of Porsche front rubber mats is included.  There is automatic climate control – air conditioning blows cold – a PCM 1 navigation system by in-dash DVD and a six-disc CD changer mounted in the front trunk.  The passenger’s side window power is operational though it needs an adjustment for the automatic lowering when the door is opened.  Wear is also in evidence on the passenger’s seat side of the centre console, from back-and-forth seat travel against it.

Instrumentation consists of a centrally mounted tachometer with maximum reading of 8000 RPM and redline of 7200 RPM, a 200 MPH speedometer to its left with an incorporated digital display adjustable between km/h and MPH, a voltmeter to its far left, a coolant temperature and fuel gauge to its right and an oil pressure gauge measured in BAR to its far right.  The analog MPH speedometer confirms that this is a US-market car, the digital speedometer’s km/h setting addresses that for driving on Canadian roads.  Controls at the top edge of the gauges are for setting the digital clock found beside the fuel gauge and resetting the trip odometer, found below the digital odometer showing under 145,000 km.  In front of the pod is a three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel flanked by stalks for driver information, cruise control and indicators.

Coming out of the factory, the 3.6L was rated at 320 horsepower.  Torque rating was 273 lb.-ft.  The IMS bearing was updated by Porsche and serviced by the owner’s trusted specialty shop, well known in the area for Porsche service.  Other fluids were also recently changed in addition to replacement of the alternator drive belt and water pump in 2022.  The power is sent to the rear wheels via the six-speed manual transmission.
