38K mile 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi 5-Speed Manual
Here is a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi 5-Speed Manual which is equipped with a 2927 cc engine, repainted under prior ownership and being represented by the seller’s shop. The transversely mid-mounted V8 aft of the cabin is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle and it is finished in Rosso Corsa (Italian for “race red”) over a tan leather interior. Further, it is equipped with a removable targa top finished in contrasting black, a limited-slip differential, Pininfarina badging to denote the designer, four-wheel disc brakes, dual exhaust with twin exits on each side, a PYLE aftermarket stereo head unit, and a gated shifter. The car is pictured in its original TRX wheels with Michelin tires and the seller is giving the buyer the choice of these or a freshly refinished set of Ferrari 328 wheels skinned in never-used tires, with the latter the seller will furnish an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate. The car underwent extensive servicing in 2024, the details of which are set out below and photographs of which are presented in our gallery. This Ferrari is a US-market car and is offered with choice of wheels and tires, a fire extinguisher, a jack and a clean Carfax.

The car was finished in Rosso Corsa from the factory and was refinished under prior ownership. Further featured on the car include vented covers on the rear side windows, curved rear glass, retractable headlights, black removable roof panel, black side mirrors, engine cover venting, rear fascia venting and four exhaust exits. This Ferrari is a US market car. It came to Canada in 2008 and also has BC history. Please see the claims-free ICBC history report in the gallery to supplement the clean Carfax.
Silver-finished Campagnolo wheels with Ferrari emblems on the car are sized in the TRX protocol. They are lined in Michelin Radial X tires measuring 220/55 VR 390. Date code is from 2004. The owner can alternately supply a set of newly refinished staggered Ferrari 328 OEM rims, 16” x 7” and 16” x 8” with Firestone Indy 500 tires that have never been mounted on a car. The Firestones are date coded 4723 (2023) and measure 205/55R16 (F) and 225/50R16 (R) with a W speed rating. At all four corners, there are discs and double wishbones making up the fully independent suspension.
Beige leather adorns the cabin, from the two bucket seats to the door cards with matching carpets, floor mats and a complementary black dashboard. The dogleg patterned 5-speed gated shifter is a conspicuous central feature. The car is equipped with air conditioning, power windows and an aftermarket PYLE AM/FM head unit with inputs for USB and accessory. The retractable headlights are operated by a stalk on the left of the steering column, HVAC controls are in the centre console with clean ashtray and lighter that can be used as a 12V DC power source. There is a mark in the carpet on the passenger’s side by hinged side of the door.
Instrumentation is by Veglia Borletti and is fronted by a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel with hub covered by the Ferrari prancing horse emblem. There is an 85 MPH speedometer, as mandated by the US DOT in the period and a tachometer maxing out at 10000 RPM with a redline at 7750. The six-digit odometer reads under 38,000 miles. Between the two are gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure, flanked by dials and warning lights. Veglia Borletti branding is also found on the console instrumentation featuring a functional analog clock and oil temperature gauge.
The 2927 cc engine is a mid-mounted quad cam V8 fed by a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle sending power to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. The 1981 308 GTSi was factory-rated at 205 horsepower, with 181 lb.-ft. of torque on hand. The car’s pollution pump has been removed and the carpet in the storage area aft of the engine compartment needs to be re-glued. The seller relays that the following items were serviced in 2024, there are shop photos of the work included in our gallery.
This 38K mile 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi 5-Speed Manual is available with clean Carfax, jack, one set of keys and fire extinguisher from the owner in Vaughan, Ontario. It also comes with an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate if the buyer opts for the 328 wheel set with new tires as described above.
