1978 MG MGB Mk IV 4-Speed Manual Roadster

This is a 1978 MG MGB 4-Speed Manual Roadster finished in Inca yellow over black vinyl upholstery.  It is powered by a 1.8 litre inline four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission powering the rear wheels.  Included equipment includes a black soft top, matching boot, rack and pinion steering, sport rack on the trunk lid which comes with the photographed picnic basket and 14” Rostyle wheels.  Recent service in 2022 included a thermostat replacement and regular ongoing maintenance in the two-year ownership tenure of the current owner as well as that of the previous 18-year owner.

The Inca yellow paint is complemented by black bumpers chrome trim and black period MGB Mk IV striping and decals.  Both are matched by the Rostyle wheels.  Other external features include vent windows, black soft top in very good condition, matching boot and tonneau cover.  As seen in the photo gallery, paint discolouration can be seen in the hood and other exterior side panels, depending on the light.  There are exterior mirrors on either side.

The Rostyle wheels are skinned in P185/60 Hercules tires installed under previous ownership.  Tread remains quite good, reflective of low mileage driven over the past 20 years.  The previous 18-year owner is reported to have driven the car approximately 34,000 km.  Front disc brakes are power assisted, the car is outfitted with drum brakes in the rear.  The seller reports that the previous owner had a new master cylinder, brake lines and fuel pump installed in 2019.

The twp bucket seats are upholstered in textured black vinyl and matched by a black dashboard, black door card, and black carpeting. The Roadster has a locking glovebox and manual windows. The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 7000 RPM tachometer with 6000 RPM red line.  and 200 km/h speedometer.  The seller reports an odometer reading of 103,000 km.  Auxiliary gauges and a clock are also offered in the instrumentation appointments.

The 1.8-liter inline-four is equipped with one carburetor.  The owner reports that it runs very well.  It was rated at 62 horsepower and 88 lb.-ft. of torque when new.  The power is delivered to the rear axle by a four-speed manual transmission.

This 1978 MG MGB 4-Speed Manual Roadster is available with vinyl tonneau cover, vinyl boot, picnic basket that can be fitted to the rear rack and two keys by the two-year owner in Etobicoke, On.  For Ontario buyers:  the car was safetied when the owner bought it in 2021 and he expects it to pass again as it sits.
