15K km 2005 Mazda RX-8 SE Grand Touring 6-Speed Manual

Here is a 2005 Mazda RX-8 SE Grand Touring 6-Speed Manual with exceptionally low mileage, only 15,000 km.  As one might expect for a car with such low mileage, the owner mentioned that it has not been driven in the winter and rarely in rain; it has also always been stored in a garage, climate-controlled at its current home.  This RX-8 SE Grand Touring is finished in Sunlight Silver Metallic over black leather.  Its powerplant is a 1.3-liter Wankel rotary engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential.  Equipment beyond includes 18″ five-spoke alloy wheels, Dynamic Stability Control, traction control, a power tilting and sliding sunroof, Xenon headlights, fog lights, heated front bucket seats (power-adjustable on the driver’s side), a Bose sound system, a CD/cassette stereo, navigation through a separate DVD system and cruise control.  The “RX” in RX-8 relates to Rotary Experimental, Mazda’s development of rotary-engined cars, this being the eighth in the sequence, after the famed RX-7 which was in production for the 1979 – 1995 model years.  The RX-8 followed to much anticipation in the 2003 model year.

The car’s paint is Sunlight Silver Metallic (Mazda code 22V).  When the current owner purchased in 2021, there were scratches on the driver’s side which he had corrected via a re-spray of this side; photos of the affected area before the repair are on the gallery as photos 175 and 176.  No body work beyond simple surface preparation was done nor any filler used.  Among the car’s features are a powered sunroof, Xenon headlights with self-leveling system, power mirrors and rear doors that open with a hinge in the rear.  The floor is home to aluminum pedals, including an oversized dead pedal, as well as stock floor mats, the fronts embroidered with an RX-8 emblem.  There is a shallow scratch above the RX-8 emblem on the rear, visible in the dedicated photo in our gallery.

The 18″ five-spoke alloy wheels are the stock items and are skinned in 225/45 ZETA Alventi tires, with Y-speed rating on which we observe 2020 date codes and which the owner notes were installed in 2022.  Both rear wheels show marks as illustrated in our photo gallery.  Braking is by four-wheel ventilated anti-lock discs.  From the factory the car was fitted with Dynamic Stability Control featuring traction control.  The RX-8 was noted by auto journalists in the day for its handling prowess.

The seating surfaces are trimmed in black leather.  Cabin amenities include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a navigation system through a rear-set mounted DVD player, a Bose sound system, a CD/cassette stereo, air conditioning and cruise control.  Powered accessories beyond the driver’s seat include windows, locks and mirrors.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a central 10,000 RPM tachometer (8500 RPM red line) with a digital speed readout within.  On either side, there are auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-character digital odometer indicates under 15,000 km.

The 1.3L Renesis two-rotor Wankel rotary engine was factory rated at 238 horsepower when new.  Through the six-speed manual transmission and LSD, it drives the rear wheels.  Owner relays that the most recent service was 2,000 km ago.  For Ontario buyers – while the car has not been inspected prior to the listing, considering mileage and condition the seller expects it to pass Ontario safety as it sits.
