No Reserve 1991 Cadillac Allanté
Here is a 1991 Cadillac Allanté Convertible finished in white over burgundy leather being offered with the extra excitement of a No Reserve auction. The Allanté was released to great anticipation for the model year 1987, designed by Pininfarina with bodies assembled by the famed design house in Torino, Italy and flown via specially outfitted Boeing 747 to Hamtramick, MI where final assembly was executed by General Motors. When the Allanté began its run, it was outfitted with a 4.1 litre engine, though this ’91 is equipped with a 4.5 litre V8 engine. While this is a U.S. market car, imported into Canada in 2022, there were only five 1991 models originally shipped north of the border as new Canadian market cars. The Carfax report is linked in CCC Vital Info. This car is being presented under our White Glove program, represented by collectorcarcanada.ca.

The 4.5 litre V8 is twinned with a 4-speed automatic transaxle sending power to the front wheels. The black convertible top is a hybrid power- and manually operated soft top. An advancement for the period, centre stack displays are LCD with LED for driver information and equipment includes both an in-dash CD player and a cassette player to complement AM/FM functionality for the factory Delco Symphony Sound stereo. The digital instrument cluster was intended to look tech-forward and remains functional; the speedometer and odometer can step between metric and imperial readouts by engaging the US/METRIC button on the display and it is complemented by an on-board computer. The odometer reads under 110,000 km and there is a black mark in the information LCD display
The white exterior is complemented by a burgundy stripe and matching permanent hard parade boot. Mirror caps are in a contrasting black while Pininfarina badges are in place with power antenna, headlight washers and chrome trim. All badging is intact, including the “Cadillac” and “Allanté” script on the rare-for-Cadillac horizontal taillights, Pininfarina emblems on each front fender. Convertible top struts are reported to have been replaced in 2021 while the soft top shows some tearing in the rubber edges at its base by the rear glass. There is a small chip in the driver’s door and various other imperfections in the finish – see the photo gallery. The Carfax is included in CCC Vital Info and is clean but for a rear bumper cover repair and repaint (under $2,000) an incident that occurred while the car was in the car of the shop doing the brake work, whose invoice is photographed in the gallery. (Beware!)
The silver-finished forged alloy wheels are OEM, wearing centre caps with Cadillac emblems, and measure 16 inches. Mastercraft SRT Touring tires are sized 225/55 at all four corners, the stock size. Underneath is a recently installed set of four-wheel disc brakes controlled by an ABS system. There is an independent four-wheel suspension and traction control at the ready and the owner relays that the driver’s rear shock makes a sound when passing over a sudden road bump.
Factory Recaro seats are power adjustable for both occupants. The burgundy leather covering is matched in colour by carpets, floor mats, dash and door cards. The factory dash cover carpet is black and included with the sale. Other equipment in the cabin includes cruise control, automatic climate control, the onboard computer, Delco Symphony sound with AM/FM, cassette and in-dash CD functionality. The glove box cover has been repaired and the air conditioner blows cool. There is a Pininfarina badge at the base of the centre stack.
The two-spoke Cadillac-embossed steering wheel is equipped with an airbag and fronts instrumentation including a speedometer and odometer with digital gauge-style design and another speedometer display which shows a digital readout number for speed. The tachometer has a maximum reading of 6000 RPM with a red line of 4700 RPM. The six-digit digital odometer reads under 110,000 km.
Under the hood, the Cadillac 4.5L V8 was factory-rated at 200 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine was the second offered in the Allanté, not the Northstar V8 offered in the 1993 Allanté. Recent work includes a new NAPA “The Legend” battery in 2023, front shocks in 2023 and brakes including rotors at all four corners under 7,000 km ago in 2022. The owner has also had seasonal oil changes through 2023.
This 1991 Cadillac Allanté Convertible is now offered at No Reserve with original manufacturer’s literature, partial service records, three sets of keys, one keyless remote, an Allanté-branded dashboard cover and a Carfax report, by the owner in Toronto, Ontario.
