1973 Ford Torino 2-Door Hardtop

This 1973 Ford Torino two-door hardtop was assembled in Canada and refurbished under current ownership in the style of the famed Starsky & Hutch tv show police vehicle and has been refinished in red with the prominent S&H white stripe over a black and red vinyl interior. Power is provided by a 351 cubic-inch V8 twinned with a three-speed automatic transmission.  Other equipment includes power steering, front disc brakes, polished 15″ Ansen Sprint wheels, and a push-button AM/FM radio. This Torino was acquired by the seller in 2017 and it has been driven under 200 miles since this time, making this restoration very fresh.

Original factory exterior colour was Ginger Metallic.  The car was refinished in Viper Red under current ownership, in 2018, with a white side stripe that extends up to the roof. Paint is modern, multi-stage and was professionally applied after all original paint was stripped and steel shell sanded and smoothed.  Paint and glass are free of blemishes or chips  Features include a later-model grille to match the model used in the tv show, four headlights, polished wheel arch trim, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome-finished side mirrors and bumpers. Close-up photos of the body panels and lenses are provided in the gallery below, they show a very nice condition, given the recency of the refinish.  Since the restoration, the car has been appraised at $30,000, the appraisal is included in the gallery.

The period-Ford two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer along with an analog clock, warning lights, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 15k miles, under 200 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.  Some of the recent mechanical highlights include  general maintenance (oil, fluids), wheel balance, battery core change, carburetor overhaul, with an alternator rebuild in 2016 and some records on hand.  Tires are reported to have been installed since the restoration, three years ago.

The 351 cubic inch V8 is equipped with a Ford blue-finished air cleaner assembly and matching valve covers  Power goes to the rear wheels through the three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes a minor leak from the transmission; also, there is a small crack in a plastic piece on the driver’s side door frame near the base of the back window.  Consistent with the Starsky and Hutch theme, a magnetic beacon light, a novelty license plate matching the TV show car’s (seen in the videos), prop identification cards, aviator-style sunglasses, and a Motorola CB radio are included in the sale.  They are pictured in the gallery.

The ultimate Starsky & Hutch tribute car! It is considered one of the most iconic television cars in history.
Welcome to the auction!
I was reluctant to put our beloved Torino on sale, but it is time to part with this amazing car that brings back many memories of the great TV show Starsky and Hutch! This Torino participated in many Car Shows, helping raise money for charities or simply creating fun events. It seems to me that this Starsky and Hutch tribute car provoked especially many friendly remarks and conversations. There were always excited waves and calls when we drove the Torino across town.
I will do my best to answer questions in the Comments and those submitted with the “Contact Seller” button in CCC Vital Info. I am happy to facilitate viewings – please request through the “Contact Seller” button.
