47K mile 1987 Ford Mustang GT 5-speed Manual

This 1987 Ford Mustang GT was acquired and imported by the seller from the 17-year second owner in 2019 and it now shows 47,000 miles – under 2,000 added by the seller. A U.S. market car, all fees, taxes and duties were paid then, as applicable.  The car is powered by a 5.0 litre V8 engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission.  It is finished in Dark Grey Metallic paint (Ford code 1D) over Titanium lower accent mouldings with a blue stripe and Medium Grey cloth (73). Additional equipment includes 15″ alloy “Turbine-style” wheels, a limited-slip differential, a rear spoiler, air conditioning and an AM/FM cassette stereo, all original to the car.

This Fox body Mustang GT is offered as a private sale from the private collection of the owner, who is a franchised dealer for another brand.  Included are a clean Carfax report, linked in “CCC Vital Info” and a Marti report, included in the gallery, for the car setting out options and other data particular to this vehicle as well as VIN decoding.  It was built April 8, 1987, five days ahead of factory schedule.  Ontario buyers, please note:  the car comes with an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate.  Please review the videos which comprehensively capture the car’s features and videos.  In the narrated video, the owner mentions that he owns four Fox body Mustangs, he meant four Fox body cars, one is a Capri another is a Lincoln Mark VII in addition to his other Fox body Mustang.

The car is finished in Dark Grey Metallic paint featuring fog lights, GT-specific bodywork and lights, a fixed radio antenna on the passenger side fender and a rear flow-through spoiler.  “MUSTANG GT” is embossed on the side skirts and rear valance, from the factory.  A factory removable sunroof is optioned, the sunroof bag is still with the car and photographed in the hatchback.  The car has been entirely repainted once, under prior ownership and reflective of common 1980s paint delamination on grey Ford product.  Owner posits that the paint is excellent and notes only a minor scuff from lower spat in front of left front tire.  Detailed photos of the underside are also included in the gallery.  The seller notes that the car has always been garaged under a cover and only fair weather driven.  He also mentions that some of the blue tinted glass in what he believes the original windshield has bronzed with age.

The 15″ alloy wheels are skinned in Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring all-season tires measuring 225/60R15, the stock size.  It must be noted that some of the photos were taken before these Uniroyal tires were installed under 300 km ago, date coded the 48th week of 2021.  Please disregard replaced BF Goodrich tires appearing in photos included only illustrate other features.  Standard equipment included a Handling Suspension Package featuring variable-rate springs and a Quadra-Shock rear setup along with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering. Brakes are power-assisted, front discs and rear drums.

The cabin boasts articulated front sports seats whose controls include a combination of power and mechanical adjustments, stock and reflective of the era as well as a rear bench – all upholstered in Medium Grey cloth. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, an AM/FM cassette search stereo radio, premium sound, with power windows and door locks.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,800-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows under 47,000 miles.  The car has not needed much work, service records are included on the gallery from current and prior ownership and they supplement the Carfax report’s substantiation of actual mileage.  Most recently, the Uniroyal tires were installed along with an oil change.  More substantially, valve cover gaskets, the air conditioner compressor and heater core were replaced in 2019.

The 5.0 litre High Output V8 with electronic fuel injection was factory rated at 225 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.  Many Mustang enthusiasts believe this published horsepower rating to be an understatement.  The power goes to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, deploying a limited-slip differential.  Exhaust blows out of upgraded twin Magnaflow mufflers to yield the familiar 5-litre Mustang powerful sound.
