A US-market car, It was purchased as a race car – used exclusively on-track since 1999 – by the seller from out of province in 2013, where it was used in racing sanctioned by SCCA and Porsche Club of America. Before that time, the previous owner invested much to keep it track ready and receipts are photographed from the current ownership totaling over $30,000, using it in Porsche Club of America Upper Canada Region track events. The exterior and interior of the car are finished in white, with removable decals on the exterior providing contrast. It was treated to a full paint, in and out, in 2016 with many modifications for the track. Front bumper cover and spoiler are removable by side-mounted latches for clearance when loading on a trailer. The hood is raised in two spots to accommodate the higher shock towers; fore of the hood, the pop-up style headlights have been removed, openings welded shut; wipers and washer nozzles have been deleted; racing mirrors have been installed; and all lights are either removed or obscured, save for the taillights. Staggered Fiske wheels measuring 17×8” and 17×9” are installed with competition-use tires needing replacement – P235/40R17 in front, with P275/40R17 in the rear. The hatch Turbo badge has been shifted to the centre to accommodate the mounting of the racing spoiler. The exterior shows signs of racing use – no damage or dents, but with various marks and scuffs on the body. A clean Carfax from the time of seller’s purchase appears in the gallery. It has been stored indoors at a professional facility since.
The interior consists of racing necessities, basically: one seat with five-point harness, roll bar and instruments for and related to driving. It is equipped with a push-button start The dash remains close to stock, modified by the push-button kill switch (starts by key), removal of switches for removed accessories, and supplementary gauges by VDO for water temp., boost and oil temperature; racing seat is by MOMO; doors have been stripped but for the metal panels, complemented by NASCAR bars, the calibre of the NASCAR bars in the roll cage, internal of the door openings. Formerly a sunroof car, it has been converted to a slicktop, without evidence of the removed sunroof being left behind. Interior of footwells have been converted to checker plate, a fire extinguisher is installed on the passenger’s side.
Performance is delivered by a replacement turbocharged engine installed in 2003, modified with an updated turbocharger and stroked with 968 internals to produce 287 horsepower at the wheels, approximately 325 HP at the crank, its original displacement of 2.5 litres has been bored out to approximately 2.9 litres housing oversized 951 pistons with a Powerhaus short block. The head was rebuilt in 2016. It is twinned with the OEM 5-speed manual transmission powering the rear wheels. Oversized oil cooler and clutch are also by Powerhaus. Underneath, the front coilovers are rated at 450 lbs. and a 28 mm stabilizer bar is in place; in the rear, there is a 30 mm torsion bar with Bilstein Ultimate performance shocks and an adjustable sway bar by Weltmeister. Up top, a Weltmeister front tower brace has been installed. Receipts and work orders since 1998 are on hand – again, please see the gallery for page-by-page details of work done in current ownership, with the remainder also photographed in bulk. The car’s odometer is non-functional, owner estimates it has been driven a maximum of 500 miles since 2016, always indoor-stored since.
