The Triumph Motor Company was founded in 1885. Triumph originally started as a bicycle producer and later started making motorcycles and cars. The first car Triumph produced came in 1929 and the first motorcycle was a produced a few decades prior, in 1902. By 1918, the Triumph Cycle Company was Britain’s leading motorcycle manufacturer. By 1930, the Triumph Motor Car company realized it could not compete with larger car companies, so it decided to focus on the more premium sports cars the brand is famous for.
The Triumph 1800 was produced from 1946-1948, the first model produced by Triumph after World War II. The Triumph 1800 was powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 65 horsepower. It was available in both fixed roof and roadster models. This model was known for its luxurious interior and comfortable ride. The car featured a four-speed manual transmission and hydraulic brakes. The 1800 was one of the first cars to be designed using wind tunnel technology, which helped to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.
