2023 07 24 Blog Post – Some of Our Favourite Audis

Audi is a leading luxury car manufacturer. It has a history of motorsports and rally, a prominent feature being its famous Quattro System. Audi has proved that it is a powerful brand and has produced some of the most top-of-the-line luxury cars on the market. Some cases in point are the A8, exciting performance cars like the R8 and enthusiast-oriented RS versions of several vehicles in their lineup.

RS6

The Audi RS6 Avant is a car that many North American Audi enthusiasts have wanted for years. While America did get an RS6 Avant for one model year back in 2003 the RS6 Avant has changed and evolved into one of the fastest and most luxurious super wagons on the market. Originally offered as a sedan or wagon, the latest generation is exclusively a wagon. When it comes to performance, the RS6 Avant is no slouch. The wagon shares the same twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the RS7 that produces 621 horsepower and 627 lb.-ft. of torque. The RS6 Avant produces more horsepower than even Audi’s halo car, the R8. The RS6 has no problem putting the power to the pavement because it features Audi Quattro all wheel drive. In the current day with many brands ditching wagons and sedans in favour of SUVs, the Audi RS6 is one of the last of its kind.

In the 1980s the Audi UR Quattro proved to the world how capable Audi was as a brand. Unfortunately, not everyone could afford the Quattro rally car so Audi produced the Audi Coupe GT. The Audi Coupe GT was powered by a 2.2L inline five-cylinder engine. The car produced 125 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque. This enabled a top speed of 119 MPH. The GT version of the Audi coupe featured vented front disc brakes and a five-speed manual transmission. Over in Europe, the Audi Coupe GT could be optioned with Quattro all-wheel drive but here in North America, the early car offered front-wheel drive. Not many examples remain and it’s rare to spot one on the street.

R8

The Audi R8 is likely the brand’s most iconic car. The R8 began production back in 2006 and will end production next year. Since the R8 was launched, it has had multiple special editions and refreshes. At its launch, the R8 was a mid-engine supercar powered by a naturally aspirated V8 and was offered with a gated manual or automatic transmission. The R8 was later offered with a V10 (the same engine used by Lamborghini in the Gallardo, given common ownership). Like the V8, the V10 could be had in a gated manual or automatic transmission. Fast forward to 2015, when the second generation R8 launched. This new R8 was only offered with a V10 and automatic transmission (once again shared with Lamborghini). Earlier this year Audi announced the R8 will be ending production and a third generation will not be offered. The Audi R8 is an iconic supercar and one of the few cars on the market with 10 cylinders. To celebrate its legacy, Audi is producing a limited run of the R8 GT, a more track-focused variant of the R8.

2014 Audi S5 Quattro Progressiv 3.0T

The 2014 Audi S5 was releasednright after the S5 had been updated and refreshed and is known as the B8.5/B8.5T Generation. This refresh gave the S5 new LED headlights, a redesigned front bumper that resembles the 2012 Audi A6, a new rear diffuser and redesigned taillights. Unlike its pre-refresh counterpart, the B8.5 Audi S5 came from the factory with a Supercharged 3.0L V6. The pre-refresh S5 was equipped with a 4.2L V8. The 3.0L V6 is more efficient in terms of fuel economy than the V8 and produces around the same horsepower. The inside of the S5 was also updated to make the car more modern. With this complete package, the 2014 Audi S5 stands out as one of our favourites. Available on Collector Car Canada is this 2014 Audi S5 Quattro Progressiv 3.0T Supercharged Bid now!  Bid often!
